you recording good I'm recording good recording
0:07
good I love it when you record right there like when you record right
0:14
there I can't see anything I can't see how did she do it oh my God this is
0:21
a feed in itself don't even uh talk about the
0:27
altitude change talk about fighting with blinders on holy [ __ ] she was not
0:33
helping herself no she wasn't so hello oh wait sorry oh hi
0:39
hey welcome to another episode of two straws and uh if you guys didn't know if
0:46
you guys have been living under a rock we are uh talking about the events of UFC Denver that just happened yes they
0:53
they were a mile high and I'm not talking about Tracy Cortez's eyelash
1:00
M yo so let's just jump into the main event how crazy was that well it so I
1:08
won't say crazy like uh you doing okay there yeah I was just trying to adjust sorry I'm very distracted by these I
1:15
don't know how I do not know how anybody fights with um falsies so we wanted to
1:20
really capture what Cortez was going through when she fought last night and
1:27
the eyelashes kind of stole the show because the first knockdown or the only
1:33
knockdown I think that happened first round there was a slowo clip of her
1:39
getting three Ted and an eyelash went flying into the crowd I wonder if anyone
1:45
caught it it just lands on like Sean Shelby's
1:51
head well ESPN did a great job of capturing it and slow mooing it and you
1:56
know of course Dominic Cruz felt the need to draw attention to it like oh of
2:01
course she punched her eyelash off everyone's like oh we were going to let it slide but I went to tweet it and I
2:08
was like you know what it's too late he already got me on that one everyone like
2:14
as I'm talking right now I see this Halo this black Halo above my eyes I feel
2:21
like it's such a distraction it's even worse with the light we have a ring
2:26
light of course um it's I mean it's natural but it's
2:32
Amplified right now yes the glow we're glowing um but I mean can you imagine
2:37
the the bright lights over the Octagon you know just kind of like queuing in
2:42
over these lashes and it's definitely a distraction I mean she practices with them every single day so I feel like
2:48
she's adapted acclimated as she was the altitude impressively by the way yeah
2:54
even though this was a short notice fight like she really still had high output and I was I I was leaning towards
3:00
Rose winning um not just on on skill-wise but
3:06
for the fact that Tracy Cortez took this on short notice yeah and it's an altitude yeah and a lot of people on
3:13
like Denver fight cards tend to fall victim to the altitude and this was no exception but Tracy uh pushed through
3:20
and still had really high output impressively yeah a couple of the short notice guys were able to really show out
3:26
on the Denver card so I'm starting to think it's a m over matter thing you know Tracy's best rounds were fourth and
3:34
fifth uh we had our boy energy Charles Johnson Got The Knockout in the third
3:40
round yes scull it gang if you can't read it right here um and then who's the
3:48
other person uh there was one more short oh Elder oh Elder too Elder and flowers
3:54
okay uh they were the opening fight right and the short notice guy got the Finish
4:00
I think that was a decision no no no it was a it was a submission it was a head and arm O Okay and then I was going to
4:06
say John Silva this card was cursed too what happened I know and I think the
4:13
worst part about it is if you get that call for a short notice fight for Denver you're like no no thank you especially
4:22
if you felt altitude before it's definitely a real thing no it absolutely is I've taken a short notice fight in
4:27
Denver but I got lucky this is early in my career before I knew like the
4:32
severity of of the effects of altitude I really didn't have any concept of what it was like or what to expect but I
4:40
arrived right before weigh-ins I weighed in and then I fought the next day so I feel like I kind of missed it no that's
4:47
the best way to do it if you don't have uh a few months or like a month or three
4:52
weeks to acclimate is to go there before your body realizes it's [ __ ] like you
4:59
just get there and your body's like wait a second this is different and then you do the thing you get out there and in
5:05
the airport you're sucking air because that's when it really starts to hit you like G yeah well at my after party I was
5:12
definitely feeling the effect you got to dump adrenaline and altitude dump yes it
5:20
also helps you get buzzed way faster hey it does it does and I did a fight camp
5:26
at altitude when I fought the second time in Mexico City M and it was so hard
5:31
to keep weight on yeah yeah I was just burning extra calories just from trying
5:39
to breath breathe yes your body's just trying to function and live yeah that I
5:44
saw this stupid tict Tock where uh these girls are like oh you once you hear you
5:50
lose weight from farting like farting Burns 60 calories they're just walking around going burn well breathing there
5:58
I'm sure burns more more calories than uh breathing at sea level I I remember
6:05
the first time I was in Mexico City and I was not fighting I was just there watching and supporting and I remember
6:10
being exhausted and winded waking up in the middle of the night to use the restroom in the hotel room I no true
6:16
story I was exhausted and it and it took my body forever to eate every time I
6:22
went up a flight of stairs anytime I wanted to walk to the store like anything it just Zapped the energy out
6:28
of you yeah yeah and it's funny you said the thing about getting buzzed we had a friend who thought she got roofied out
6:34
there because she had a couple drinks and usually a couple drinks don't do
6:40
what a couple drinks at altitude does to you it's real thing it freak you out for
6:45
sure yeah so anyway going back to the amazing feat that uh Tracy Cortez put on
6:52
by still being able to have that push in the end but I just felt like it was a tall order not just um like you said out
7:00
to but skill-wise and Rose just seemed to have her number from the Geto oh my
7:05
goodness I was so impressed with Rose's hips because for her hips her hips she
7:12
was shucking off those takedowns like nobody's business it was impressive because um previously when she fought uh
7:20
fur fur fur man Manan f um we noticed or
7:27
I noticed a bit of you know a size strength advantage and I think she's definitely growing into the weight class very well Tracy Cortez is one of the
7:33
bigger girls in the division you know as we saw she had trouble making weight we need to talk about that
7:41
too but it was it was going to be I think a good test for her to see how she does with those bigger frames um in the
7:48
five rounds and and see where she's at and I think she's growing into the division nicely I was really impressed with her her takeown defense and just
7:56
shuing it off and making Tracy look like they you know we're always in the same weight class yeah I was impressed with
8:03
her takedowns as well like uh not just the defense but the offense to be able to take down someone who has a wrestling
8:10
base who's a bigger girl with bigger hips um it's hard to really get under
8:16
them it's hard to knock them off balance but she did a great job she hit that little sneaky trip takedown that you
8:22
love doing so much I love it um o maybe that should be our technique breakdown I think so hey we got it com if you want a
8:31
technique breakdown of I call it the girl double egg I call the lazy man double lazy men okay or Lazy Girl double
8:38
Lazy Girl double you combine them but it works it's it's the first takedown that I've ever been able to to land live
8:46
against men in training it's just it's a really really good one it is and Tracy
8:51
landed her own in the fight too um I think Rose is like hey I could do that and then she started doing it and um her
8:59
Brown was really impressive too she was able to not just out grapple but recover
9:05
from mistakes if she got too high on her she was able to recover if she like
9:10
started to lose the back she was able to get to another good position and then as soon as it got back up to the feet she
9:16
was striking again so I think this is um a real nice Showcase of how diverse
9:23
Rose's skill set is like this was a great fight to see that I agree and I think that it just shows um the the
9:31
different levels of the game Tracy is is a great fighter she's well-rounded uh
9:37
but she's still kind of Fairly green as far as her MMA career goes so I think there's still a lot of a lot of growing
9:43
pains and and learning experiences which I think this is a good one for her yeah she's young too and the thing is she
9:49
doesn't fight that often Rose doesn't fight that often too but she's been doing it a lot longer than Tracy has so
9:57
um especially at the high level that she been fighting so you you learn lessons quick once you break into that high
10:04
level and this was a big jump up for Tracy um she'll be able to have a lot of stuff to work on I feel like when you're
10:12
a young fighter and I've done I've thinking way back to when that was me we
10:19
were we last way back when my space was a thing no not but uh think it back to
10:27
when I was a young Fighter um it takes fights like that to push you to that next level where a lot of times you
10:34
think you know everything it's like a what's that thing they call in Jiu-Jitsu it's like blue belt syndrome where you
10:41
start to learn a bunch of stuff and all of a sudden you think you know more than
10:47
the purple and the brown belts and the black belts because you studied a lot and you're really excited about it and
10:53
you hit some good moves um and then all of a sudden you realize oh I don't know
10:58
[ __ ] this is her oh I don't know [ __ ] moment where she has the drive and she
11:03
has the heart to be really good she has the Baseline skills but she just has to
11:08
keep finessing them so um yeah it was it was really good effort especially in the
11:14
last rounds but Rose really showed how how good she is in that weight class and
11:19
I think that's the biggest story from that fight I think that a lot of people can take a page out of out of rose's
11:27
book as far as you know walking a little bit closer to competition weight not having to suck weight and not being
11:32
afraid to you know experience a different weight class I think that it
11:37
was um it was really impressive what she did I think there's some big takeaways that Tracy can take from the fight and
11:44
one of those is is the head movement you know she she wasn't necessarily slower but the way she came in with those um
11:52
with those initial punch strikes was just straightforward there wasn't a whole lot of um of defense or head
11:58
movement and so I think that's a really big takeway she can get yeah that was a big difference between her boxing and
12:04
Roses is Rose would land something big and then already she was rolling with
12:10
the punch and that's when Tracy would try to land her big counter and would miss it the best times that she landed
12:17
was when Rose just decided to stand and bang with her and then you could hear Pat Barry yelling go don't thr that Ro
12:26
FR take that FR and then do that and you get back on Rhythm so I think uh it's
12:33
hard to teach someone Rhythm but it's easy to teach someone to just move your
12:39
head off the center line it's easy to teach them to hit slip and then hit again or hit slip take down little
12:45
things like that where her head isn't going to be so predictable cuz she got a little big head too you know a little
12:51
big head no it's a big big head yeah she got she got a big big head with big big
12:57
eyelashes and that's why you need the big eyelashes because if she had small small eyelashes you wouldn't see
13:06
them I don't know you you started it you started it oh you did we have video
13:13
proof that just started by saying that she has a big big head you're so mean I just mean she was
13:20
en like enormous stop it spoken from Miss pad
13:26
herself I'm headest I'm a headest cuz have a very small head myself so I
13:32
acknowledge when everyone has a bigger head than I do yeah which is like 99% of population everyone very time but it is
13:39
proportionate I am quite petite framed no you have a very proportionate head the body ratio thank you thank you I
13:47
just don't fit into hats very well like a doberman pincher got kid
13:53
sizes yeah I do oh man that's great um
13:59
um yeah so she she has a big Target and I feel like when you do come in head
14:05
first trying to get yourself going you have to learn how to move your head off the center line otherwise you're just
14:11
going to get cracked and interrupted and then you're never going to get going and doing what you want to do uh you can see
14:18
that frustration in there or you have to take a page from I was so scared the thing was my
14:26
for these things are hanging on by a thread don't use up all your blinks too
14:33
early in the podcast that glue is going to start deteriorating my eyes are watering the
14:38
glue the glue is not going to last or if if somebody is not able to kind of pick
14:45
up on that head movement um Robert Whitaker is a great example of somebody yes he has head movement but it's more
14:51
of the inout he's really springy on his feet he uses his his footwork more so
14:56
than his head movement right so that would be he brings his head away from danger yes his whole body yeah in and
15:04
out in and out yeah yeah yeah and uh yeah that would be a fun one for her to uh try to lock down to but um yeah it
15:12
was good effort good effort from chasy a great showing from Rose and I'm interested to see who's going to be next
15:19
for both of them I wouldn't mind so I I'm in two minds about it because I feel
15:24
like Tracy Cortez was a similar opponent to Macy Barber um I still want to see
15:29
that fight yeah that's what I'm saying like I Macy has more Sting She has more
15:35
threat when it comes to her boxing like if she lands on you it could be the end the fight and we've never really seen
15:41
that from Tracy what Macy would bring to the table in the Rose fight or you know if and
15:48
when hopefully when they finally um you know compete against each other I think that she is her pressure her tenacity a
15:54
lot like Juliana Pena is just um she's all forward she is high volume High pace
16:01
and I think that that really exhausts people and I think that would be a great um test for Rose to see how she does too
16:08
against a bigger opponent who has just a little bit more gears but then at the same time you know
16:15
Macy does have a lot of health issues so they might not want to put her in that big Spotlight again so soon until they
16:21
make sure everything's all right so I wouldn't mind seeing Tracy versus Macy either Tracy Macy Instagram
16:29
hat girl contest she's been doing her little uh
16:34
bikini workouts have you seen them no well she'll like I don't know be in a a
16:40
kitty pool jump in the kitty pool and then do squats and there's closeups of her butt
16:46
and I've been missing out apparently yeah she's on my for you page a lot
16:52
interesting I'm like what what am I doing what am I doing with my algorithm
16:57
that what are you liking and just hovering over a little bit too long I've just been too female uh congratulatory
17:06
maybe just liking too many straw weights and fly weights stuff and just being
17:12
like you go girl I need to go back to being shady yeah I like I like animal
17:18
pictures so that's what I get yeah on my for you good job good job I wish I wish
17:23
no very happy place on my recommendations um man yeah so uh I
17:31
think that would be an interesting one I think it would be a not as big of a step
17:37
up for Tracy but she'd be able to practice whatever mistake she made in this one with just like the footwork of
17:43
not moving her head with not being able to string together her punches to take down combinations as as she'd like and
17:51
with Macy we have seen her uh have issues with people who have good grappling who have good wrestling so it
17:58
be a fun one for sure I don't see that happening though because Macy was so outspoken with how she didn't want to
18:05
take a step backward and fight Rose because she thought that Rose wasn't in the title picture you didn't hear all
18:10
this stuff no yes step back so I yeah no I thought Rose was taking a step back
18:18
what do I know um so I feel like she would have potentially the same argument I don't I think she really wants a title
18:25
shot fast she wants the the quickest path to it but now I see that being Rose
18:31
yeah yeah if you can't show up on fight day then you know someone's someone can
18:36
swoop in and take your fight take your spot and that's definitely rose right now do you think that she has to fight
18:43
one more person to get the title shot or you think it's winner of Gro chevchenko I think she has a good argument for it
18:51
but I wouldn't be surprised if they had her fight somebody else I don't know who that person could be other than Macy cuz
18:58
I'm very attached to this happening I am very selfish I really want to see this fight happen um but because uh Rose was
19:06
number five when she fought I think this bummed her up yeah that's what I was looking up now the flyweight
19:13
rankings yeah and Tracy was I think 11 11 or 12 oh dang Rose was number six
19:21
oh on here and uh Tracy was number
19:27
11 and then you have chevchenko at one she's fighting Grasso next Manan Fiora
19:34
at two Aaron blanchfield at three how was Aaron blanchfield still up there I mean she only lost to Manan so we could
19:42
see Rose in blanchfield yeah that would actually be a really good fight because
19:47
I feel like Manan is next in line she's in the queue in the bullpen batters box
19:53
yes it can't not be Manan unless like she takes a dumb fight like uh who was
19:58
it uh who was it oh JoJo she was she was next in line for a title shot and then
20:05
she was like I'll take one more fight and then she fought um who was it Jennifer Maya yes she fought Maya and
20:13
got choked out or armbarred or something yeah she got beat yeah we're like that
20:20
sucks yeah sometimes it can be really dangerous some people like I mean it's a cautionary tale people have completely
20:27
lost their title shot and gotten bumped so far down in the rankings and they haven't been able to climb themselves back up yeah that's why Leon Edwards
20:34
didn't want to take too many fights when he was in that position get kept losing fights to co and then really didn't want
20:41
to do anything but the title shot and people talked a lot of crap about him but it ended up working out in his favor
20:48
because who knows who could have snuck in and and slept him um while he was
20:53
waiting for his title shot so yeah it it would be smart I think for um for Rose
21:00
or for Manan to wait and yeah I really like that Rose versus
21:06
blanchfield fight me too that one just got me excited yeah because like there's so much that Rose can do to her on the
21:13
feet that Manan was able to do with the check hooks with the counters with the frustration but then I want to see if
21:18
Rose would be like confident enough to go to the ground with her I think she would yeah but I want to see it happen
21:25
oh for sure because the easier fight is on the feet obviously mhm um but I'd
21:31
like to see what she does with that no I think that's definitely a fight to make yeah yeah that would be fun um yeah so
21:39
there you go that was that fight um let's talk about that way that was
21:46
really weird did you see Rose's postf fight press conference when they asked her about it yeah she was kind of like
21:52
eh well she was kind of like yeah it was a little kind of suspicious she's like they she was still holding the hair they
21:59
asked her to she said that they she didn't see them reset the scale and then she wanted to know how
22:07
exhaling pushes out 05 of a pound like half a pound I thought she said oh oh
22:14
okay yeah when they said blow out her hair I thought they meant like blow dry it but I guess she just meant blow out
22:22
air that's what I got out of it I don't know so she cut her hair off and she was still like clinging to her hair and I
22:28
understand there there really is an attachment to hair like if you you tell me to chop off my hair I'd probably have
22:33
an issue yeah but it's so long and luxurious and you have a tiny head
22:40
that's why I can't have short hair have to decorate it she her haircut look phenomenal I actually prefer her hair at
22:47
that length me too it was cute yeah I wasn't mad at it no me either yeah uh
22:52
but it but it was kind of crazy that she was holding on to the hair and still
22:58
triy to weigh in and so I I heard that she wanted to see the difference between
23:05
her hair her on the scale of hair and then when she gave it to someone but
23:11
that's kind of stupid and also you're not really thinking when you're weighing in especially when it's a hard weight
23:18
cut you're dehydrated you're excited to get on the scale and drink that sip of water um it's hard to think clearly so I
23:27
understand that a lot of people are like yo why would you do that but I'm sure it made perfect sense to
23:34
her in her wake up brain it's like no that's fair enough and but like anyone
23:40
who's cut weight knows that your brain can be racing thinking about that drip
23:46
of water you get to drink as soon as this thing is over so I'm sure she was just like kind of frazzled and had the
23:54
hair in her hand and was determined to take the photo with the hair in her hand and just didn't know what to do with it
24:01
when she was actually weighing in so yeah that was that was an odd moment but
24:07
she did weigh in without the hair mhm like that that's one thing people keep
24:12
talking about they're like why is she on the scale with the hair no she did hand it off but she did hand it off she
24:20
handed it off got the official weigh in did not touch the curtain she did not
24:26
her hands were up in the air it was I think I feel like it was a legit weigh in um and then after she put her clothes
24:34
back on she grabbed the hair and took her dramatic photo um very Trump
24:41
esque with the ponytail in her hand very happy about making that weight um and
24:49
you know I I was kind of dismissive about it too but then I heard Heidi in the background and she goes okay baby 5
24:57
Seconds too and then she starts crying I'm
25:03
like that got me I don't I'm like am I PM assing what's wrong with I was just gonna say I was going to ask it got me I
25:10
was like if that were me I'd probably tear up too so don't make fun of Tracy for
25:15
crying it's Heidi she gives you that Mom energy oh for sure when you need a hug
25:21
and your mom's nowhere to be found because you're a fighter and you're about to fight Heidi's there she said
25:27
had to give you the warmest hus ever and so I was just thinking about that when that happened but uh yeah it it was
25:33
funny listening to Rose talk about it because I feel like the most obvious
25:40
thing about the whole incident was that you're fighting a girl who's
25:46
bald and I felt like because everyone was so wrapped up in The Dramatics of
25:52
cutting your hair the we in they tried to push that fact under the rug like you
26:00
can't like you know she's bald
26:05
right is not that big of an issue I wanted her to shave her head like rose I
26:10
would have loved it I think she would still look just as gorgeous yeah she beautiful girl she could Rock she could
26:16
Rock especially with those eyelashes I know he was like yes you look like a
26:21
baby doll now that's it yeah do it cute little baby doll I we I was joking and I
26:27
kind of feel bad about it now feel like I curs her but I was joking that she should have just taken the eyelashes off
26:33
and then she probably would have made weight so it's your fault and then I got [Music]
26:39
punched so the debate that we were having before filming is whether it was a track or if there were extensions and
26:46
so extensions I feel like are risky to fight with um for you know different reasons one like their individual strand
26:54
so they can actually get into your eye I at one time had Lash extens ions and one got into my eye during training and it
27:00
was very painful and I had to completely stop and get this huge long thing out of
27:05
my eye but it's crazier to me it's it's more common to fight with extensions we see it more and more it's um I've done
27:12
it yeah yeah but to fight with tracks is is crazy D because those are just held
27:18
on by by Glue by an adhesive that you know as you see as you see as you see
27:24
before before you yes and I mean the the glue can come up like it's not like it's
27:30
necessarily like sweat resistant for for very long like um the the glue has a
27:35
shelf life and it's not meant to be like you know during sport activity or getting punched or anything like that um
27:42
so it was just it was an interesting choice if in fact those were tracks because it looked like a a whole track was punched off of her so that's very
27:49
interesting to me and I'm kind of fixated on it I think my theory is that it was extensions but she gets the
27:57
umbrellas you know what I mean the snuff upus umbrella it's a
28:03
term that's a that's what they call that's what the kids Callum this is a kid-friendly show Andrew we're going to
28:09
have to bleep that out the um well it was it was until you said that she gets
28:15
to see you Manana
28:20
bras the see you Manana bras on her eyes and those things you put maybe four or
28:27
five five per cuticle so each of your natural eyelashes has like this little
28:35
tough of hair on it so it could have that little piece of hair could have been from one eyelash that's how thick
28:42
she gets her eyelashes and I don't know I feel like they were a track that's what I saw that's what you saw but I'm
28:48
telling you like I it is possible that she punched off a bunch of her natural
28:56
eyelashes with the extensions attached to them uh we have a friend who I went
29:02
to a grappling tournament with you know who you are I'm not going to put you out there but she looks at me after her
29:09
after her match and she goes look at my eye and that thing was bald because if
29:16
you fight with extensions in and it gets caught in something I get worried that one of my braids are going to get ripped
29:22
out that's why I uh cornrow nice and tidy and make sure there's no like loose
29:27
end cuz if someone gets a finger in there and they're trying to beat me up there's a good there a good chance
29:33
they're going to rip it could break a finger my whole out yeah so uh so you
29:39
have to be you have to uh know that that's a possibility like just because
29:44
something's glued to you doesn't mean it's not going to get ripped off and I feel like that was just a glued eyelash
29:52
like an extension like we go professional lash bar and get the eyelashes glued on it just got punched
30:00
out by the cuticle that's my theory she probably
30:06
has a bald eyelash we got to we got to look at the uh the postf fight press conference to see if there's a bald line
30:15
and I want to know if she went ahead and just like remove the other on if it was a track that's what I would have done no
30:21
they they were the lashes were still on that I can confirm she still had her
30:26
lashes on at least on the that didn't get punched so uh we'll have to do more investigating yes we'll let you know
30:33
what we find and let us know what you find too yeah interested in your comments I did fight in eyelashes once
30:39
and um that was probably the one time my eyeball got the most [ __ ] up I thought
30:45
one of my eyelashes got punched off like I thought I had a Tracy moment but when
30:51
I looked at a mirror the eyelashes were fine but I had this huge Red Dot like
30:57
right by my right in the white of my eye your eye got stabbed my eye got stabbed
31:02
so I wasn't sure if it was a eye poke or if it was a knuckle but I feel like the fact that I had like extensions on
31:10
they're harder than your natural eyelashes so I felt like the extension might have got briefly punched into my
31:15
eyeball and bruised it I think it's yeah I I wouldn't recommend it the lesson of
31:21
this whole conversation the biggest takeaway should be don't fight with any kind of makeup or or lash extensions
31:29
it's dangerous it is dangerous it and your eyes are important I think that's
31:34
the one injury that freaks me out the most yes the injury that freaks me out
31:40
the most in MMA is getting poked in the eye or even even just getting punched in the eye and something happened into your
31:46
vision we have teammates who have uh you know permanently altered Vision because
31:52
they got in a fight and got punched in the eyeball and it's a scary thing so
31:58
yeah I'm like be careful be careful out there Tracy next time you get in get in
32:03
a fight with them things on MH I I I know she's going to do it again though probably yeah it's her thing she can't
32:11
not do it again do
32:18
you I'm like I don't know if I could deal with rose fainting on me with all
32:23
this going on up here I don't know if I can finish this podcast with these
32:29
eyelashes on anymore I just want to take them off so badly I feel like I have a visor on you know like those 80s ones
32:36
like one of those Six Flags visors on you just see the brim of the
32:41
Hat okay let's talk about something else what did you think about Drew Dober
32:49
versus John Silva um so I was going for Silva okay um good job yeah did did I I
32:58
won right I won I won our bets I think you won the bets I did yeah cuz you also
33:04
picked Rose decision and what was the other one um well I picked
33:10
ponzano to win uh but he ended up losing a split decision which
33:16
is blasphemy it it was a really close fight I would have given it to ponzano I
33:23
think um that it's like one of those classic judging
33:29
criteria miscommunications that were're not understanding as to what wins a fight and I think they went with the
33:36
bigger power strikes okay uh but as far as damage and volume ponzano had it yeah
33:44
in the first and third round for sure yeah I could have G or No I gave I gave the second round to um to what's his
33:53
name uh sakov okay well I have the judges decisions
33:59
and Dean uh beta is one of the people he gave first and second round to
34:06
solakov then uh Chris Lee gave first and second round to solakov and Eric colon
34:13
gave first and second round to ponan niia okay well they're all wrong what
34:18
you're all wrong cuz that's not how it should have been scored what are they doing I don't
34:25
know what is wrong with you guys everything you guys you guys messed it up yeah that's not how it should have
34:31
been scored uh one person on this decisions thing uh which I always like
34:36
to go to decisions.com to make sure I'm not crazy and the one person who broke it down round by round JK J or GK GK GK
34:46
he said round one panan ebial round two salikov and round three panzano he's
34:52
right because he agrees with me he's so right good job right GK GK GK shout us
34:58
out on decisions.com because we're always here we're always here confirming things
35:04
um yeah that's how it should have been scored yeah yeah and I think it's it's wild sometimes I feel like it has
35:11
something to do with the camera angles we get at home when we all see something completely different from what the
35:17
judges in the arena see but like yeah I don't know it it's just wild when you
35:24
have the complete opposite scores on on both Sid it is it really makes me wonder
35:31
what they're looking at yeah if if anything yeah like how did you all score how did two judges score completely
35:39
opposite so far off yeah is is wild um but uh John Silva he doesn't need judges
35:48
no because he puts [ __ ] away he is insane I love him how insane is this
35:54
guy he fought Jordan uh what was it last week or two weeks ago go and I'm a big Jordan find i i a fan I love watching
36:01
him fight and I hadn't heard of uh Sila before so I was paying attention to this
36:07
fight and the way he put him out I was like oh my God and then knowing that he was taking a short notice fight with Dober I was like man I bet you I bet you
36:15
this kid is going to do it because he is crazy and he's got power and he's got
36:21
something that we call no [ __ ] Lord's assassin Lord's assassin is who how can
36:28
you fight a guy named Lord's assassin you do your best that is scary you do
36:33
your best Angela [ __ ] that is so scary um it reminds me and I think I said this
36:39
last time we were talking about him but it reminds me of that Key and Pill skit where have you ever seen it where uh
36:46
where the guy's like talking trash one guy's like yeah I'mma go beat him up I
36:52
can't wait to put my fist in his face and then they cut to the other guy who's fighting he's like
36:58
when I look at my hands I can't believe the violets that
37:04
they must do but I will do it in the name of you know like just really
37:09
dramatic and I I kind of feel like that's him no it is the all of those
37:15
fight nerds like everybody that comes out of that gym are just have been so impressive lately yeah um there was oh
37:21
God I can't I cannot think of his name but he had a beautiful um KNE KO when he
37:26
fought and he's a southpaw I'm not I'm going to get lost on it anyways I might
37:32
be able to find him for you was it no no
37:37
it was like any these guys it was like a month ago hold on prus ah patus pratus ooh the
37:48
nightmare yes yes I remember that fight so all of these guys coming out of fight
37:53
nerd are just so impressive with they striking they're they're just on another level I don't know what they're feeding
37:59
them I don't know what they're doing with them but they're they're definitely like a team to watch well it's like the
38:06
shoo box uh people you know uh shoot box shoot yeah the gem uh yes okay I'm like
38:13
am I saying that right yes the you you just imagine that their training room
38:19
must be so intense yes like they're getting there they're scrapping they're throwing 100% uh they're getting battle
38:27
ready and everyone in there is a stud so you're getting the best looks every time
38:33
you come to training that way you get in a fight in the UFC it's easier it's nothing it just raises the level I I
38:41
love what they're doing I'm really excited every time one of their their members fights because I know I'm in for
38:47
a treat kind of like that old school Sho box like Vibe like you know you're in for like high volume big kicks like
38:55
unorthodox dance switching like they're just kind of like creating a name for themselves which I'm I'm really enjoying
39:01
watching no it was really fun and then I'm always wondering what kind of antics
39:06
he's going to do when he gets in there like that first fight where he fought in the Apex and he took 20 minutes to get
39:14
into the cage do you remember that yes I do this guy every like they're trying to
39:20
rush him onto into the area where you get greased up and he's just like
39:28
slow walking what is this guy doing he was enjoying the moment and now he's had so
39:35
many moments he got to jump into uh UFC 303 then he got that short notice right
39:42
away for this fight for the Drew Dober fight and man like who's gonna want to
39:48
fight him after that like how do you show up short
39:54
notice or Dr stoage Drew Dober at altitude where he lives you know and
40:00
Drew Dober is no pushover no he's not like we knew it was going to be one guy or the other and they went at it mhm
40:08
yeah within the first minute of the fight we knew somebody was getting knocked out yeah which is very exciting
40:14
yes I can't wait to see what this guy does next I think he said that he wants to stay at uh feather yes so I'm
40:20
wondering um even more impressive he went up a weight class yeah but he did Miss weight uh only by a few few pounds
40:27
but he did Miss weight for the LA for the jordane fight um so yeah I'm wondering who he could possibly fight
40:35
next give him anyone he'll take anyone he's like got one of those mentalities you know yeah I just feel sorry for
40:41
whoever it is hope it's not a
40:47
friend leave our friends alone gu you're only allowed to fight
40:53
nerds um so uh other fights on the card that were
41:01
interesting go go I'm like looking for the fight card I had the fight card pulled up and now I lost it so we had we
41:08
had a big submission win Lana Santos took on uh Maria aava aova I think I
41:17
think she says it's some agapova yeah something like that aova um it was it was a fast fight it
41:26
was um Lana fighting at flyweight prably she
41:31
came in on short notice and fought bantamweight she did well but she uh went down into her more normally suited
41:38
weight class and she fought a striker um she caught a kick knocked agapova down
41:45
agapova went for a double leg to kind of you know counter it yeah reshoot um
41:51
ended up getting in a grapple situation uh Lana ended up getting her
41:57
back and submitting a run naked choke it was fast it was all in the first round it was extremely fast yeah and it was
42:03
very exciting yeah no she is slick on the ground um this is her only loss was
42:09
our girl Jenna Bishop uh before she got into the UFC and uh it goes to show you
42:15
that she just really knows what she's doing when she's fighting someone who has like regular MMA UFC level grappling
42:24
she's able to just dominate um excited to see who she's up against next because
42:30
in the flyweight division there's a lot of room to beat up on people especially
42:37
because she's comfortable on the feet she's able to get in get you into that striking match you think that's what
42:43
you're doing and then all of a sudden oh thanks for the leg take down yep yeah
42:48
really good Judo really good grappling um good ground and pound this time too
42:54
uh yeah I'm excited to see what she does next and she does her little dances her little dances her little booty dance her
43:00
little brazili dance yeah making making all the Brazilians proud uh we had
43:05
another short notice fight um and that was Jasmine Jaz deicious um took on
43:11
Fatima Klein fatim mlin trains at um at
43:16
elevation okay is that the name of the gym oh okay yeah yeah the one in is in
43:22
Denver too right yeah so she came from Invicta she's normally a straw weight
43:28
and she stepped up on you know a few days notice I believe or you know a couple weeks notice to fight um at
43:36
flyweight yeah and she ended up doing you know pretty well she she had her moments she had some takedowns she
43:43
landed some good strikes but Jasmine was the bigger stronger more developed
43:48
fighter she looked huge in there she did I don't even know if it was more developed she was just big and when she
43:54
got on top of her she it was hard hard for kle to move it was hard for kle to get any type of uh counter grappling any
44:03
type of like getups going she just got really stuck on her back and sometimes that's what happens when you're the
44:09
smaller Fighter um I know Fatima just from her record like she's really good
44:16
at straw weight like that's that's definitely her weight class she's been killing straw weight against good
44:21
competition so I want to see who she gets next because it's hard to come into
44:28
the UFC at a higher weight class like that's how tabichi got into the UFC she
44:33
had to fight how lupas yeah they had to fight up they had to fight up a little bit get beat up by a bigger girl but
44:42
then they do great at straw weight so it's uh it's just like The Hazing that
44:49
you have to go through some of the girls have to go through in order to get their foot in the door you do a favor for the
44:55
UFC well and they going Say Yeah there there will definitely be like you know
45:00
you scratch my back I'll scratch yours like there there is a payoff for it they're not just going to make you stay at flyweight or just be like all right
45:06
thanks buy there's usually like a deal on the table for that yeah for for doing
45:12
a favor for the UFC on short notice yeah was Loopy's first fight in the U no it was with me sorry but it was short
45:18
notice it was short notice yeah and then she did do favors by jumping in again at
45:24
flyweight when she really probably shouldn't have she's tiny girl you know but uh she she did well at flyweight too
45:31
um yeah so um Fatima she she really took one for the team with that one because
45:37
she could not get any type of offense off on uh
45:42
Jasmine jous the only reason I know how to say
45:48
that is because I I've called her fights at CFSC very nice and she used to fight at straw weight I'm glad to see that she
45:55
that is rough how big is she she look T she's tall she used to just walk around
46:00
very close to fight weight 5' seven Dam but she is like she has a bigger frame
46:05
you know and I'm glad to see that she gave her body the time and space to to grow and strengthen itself because she
46:12
was also she was just competing so much that she wanted to stay at such a lightweight and it's just it's taken a
46:18
lot out of your body and your energy yeah and your ability to recover yeah she's probably cutting her hair every
46:25
day no is for you that's going to throw your ounces off um yeah that was that
46:31
was a good chick fight though a lot of Promise in in uh in Fatima Klein in the
46:37
future and then I Mak in a lot of promise with Luana Santos too but uh did
46:43
you see that like 10 second fight that
46:48
happened the what's it called the Jackson black Shar
46:54
yes I did I saw it like five times because well I
47:01
mean they had they had to fill up space By by repeating it and repeating and repeating it luckily you know they they
47:07
did enough to kind of give the person warming up some time yeah I hate that's
47:12
always stressful that is so stressful so you know we're on a TV schedule and you
47:19
know there are are times when people are supposed to walk and there are times to be ready by and so you know you're given
47:25
notification when you know you're going to be on deck you need to get ready you need to like you know get your gloves
47:32
taped you need to you know put your cup in if you're a guy like there's just like there's certain things and you kind of you know use those markers to get
47:39
ready and when a fast knockout happens it just really throws everything off and it's kind of chaos for a little bit
47:46
until you know you're like put into the position behind the curtain and then you're ready to walk out like it
47:52
just it kind of screws with things a little bit it does I hate that that gray Air area where you're not sure if you're
47:58
supposed to be walking or if you have time to use the bathroom real quick or the bathroom's a big thing yeah or if
48:04
you should put your sweatshirt back on so you don't get too cold like there's there's a lot that goes into you being
48:11
ready to go when they say okay you're it's your time and
48:16
when you're fighting on a card and you don't have to deal with that it's such a relief mhm like if you're the first
48:23
fight of the night or if you're the opener for the prelim opener the main
48:28
like you're guaranteed to go on at these specific times so there's a little bit of
48:34
like Comfort there is I know 7:03 I got to be ready that's the time I got to be
48:40
ready with my shoes halfway off and nice and warm ready to walk out do my little
48:46
screams get slapped and get in the cage and uh not knowing that gives me a
48:52
little tiny bit of anxiety there's a little anxiety in there no you can say it that's fair
48:58
yeah but that fight was um pretty wild the how fast it happened and it was just
49:05
it was nothing fancy it was just a one two well what helped set it up was the
49:10
fact that um uh sorry Black Shear he threw he threw a naked or he tried to skip in so
49:18
he came in on one foot he came in off balance in the momentum of him coming in
49:23
kind of helped M yeah yeah it looked like he was trying to do like one of
49:28
those GSP punches where you lift the lead leg and throw it back or maybe even
49:34
a jump knee or something like that where your legs are moving and he was
49:40
midway on his way to doing something and just got interrupted and that
49:45
Interruption the ability to do that that's what Rose was doing for most of the fight with Tracy the the ability to
49:52
catch someone as they're like all right here we go it's so
49:57
it's so good it it it's just hitting someone when they're not expecting to get hit especially in those first few
50:03
seconds of of a fight where you're still filling each other out you're still trying to get there oh my
50:10
God you almost lost it it's running away oh God it's running away it's like in my
50:16
eyeball medic stay Brave stay strong medic um
50:22
yeah it's tough I can't imagine how someone could do that with eyelashes on
50:30
get interrupted in the middle of their combo and it's easy to just get dropped
50:36
like that when when it happens when you're willing to take the risk of being first in a fight yeah and it's also a
50:42
cautionary tale of throwing naked kicks and knees like it's you need to faint
50:48
first you need to throw out a punch they just I feel like there should be things in front or you should be attached to
50:55
somebody with a clinch or or in some kind of way when you're throwing a knee
51:00
or a kick they just need to be set up more because I feel like those are a little bit easier to
51:06
counter yeah as soon as someone's legs start moving I know go yeah you know and
51:12
uh when you're fighting someone you're not really looking at their hands or their eyes you're you're kind of looking
51:17
at the entire body like their entire body is in your peripheral so you can
51:23
see every limb that's moving and as soon as you see the legs kind of jogging a lot of
51:29
people's reactions just go straight down the PIP like and usually the head is there mhm if you can see where the neck
51:36
is you know where the head's going to be attached mm and when you do that jog like that usually your head is right
51:43
straight up and down you're not jogging to the side or anything like that so perfect timing really impressive the way
51:49
he was able to just pop that in um usually doesn't that doesn't finish a
51:55
fight but hey in this case yeah it was really night yeah it was a good one I
52:00
really enjoyed that did you I so we were at the bar watching this and I missed
52:06
the guillotine by Julian Arosa I didn't yeah tell me about it break it down so
52:12
he was not winning that fight okay at all Rodriguez had his number so um aosa
52:18
is 61 at featherweight which is it it's a a tall linky frame and your findings
52:24
some he was more short and Compact and Rodriguez was was really able to push him back with the straight punches keep
52:29
in the pocket and Arosa just looked really slow but he was game he was you know trying to egg him on he was trying
52:35
to engage but Rodriguez just was a little bit too quick for him um Arosa
52:42
ended up catching a kick getting him down immediately taking the back tried to sink in the rear naked choke there
52:48
was a scramble and then he ended up um jumping the Ghillie hey yeah and ended up getting a first round submission on a
52:55
fight that looked looked like it was going to be a really tough night for him nice was impressive I love Guillotines I
53:02
I got to go back and watch that because that's like my new favorite thing not just cuz I got one but it's it's just
53:09
such a good reaction for when you could get your arm wrapped around someone's
53:15
neck well and it's great because in moments of scrambles when somebody's trying to come up on a leg or or wrestle
53:21
up or or trying to get up like you know their last kind of thing that they might
53:27
be thinking of in this case that's what Rodriguez was missing was protecting the neck because you're trying to get up
53:33
fast you're trying to to get out of Danger's way and sometimes you end up putting yourself in In Harm's Way as
53:39
yeah it's such a good uh way to shut down a wrestler who's used to pressuring in they pressure right into that
53:46
submission a lot of times and the best ones know how to avoid the the neck
53:51
attacks they know how to jump over the legs they know how to do all the things that keep you from getting in harms way
53:57
but if you're good at timing when that shot's going to happen snapping them down getting control over it or like you
54:03
said when they're building up when they're trying to wrestle up and they just get a little too aggressive a little too uh turtl
54:11
necky with their with their approach there's always that chance of sinking in it's like once you start catching it
54:17
then you see that it's everywhere there are so many possibilities for submissions in
54:23
scrambles yeah you know you just got to you just got to go for him and commit sometimes I mean that uh porier fight
54:29
was prime example that the guillotine is everywhere even if once you see it you
54:35
won't unsee it even if it isn't there it's there and and that's I mean what you
54:42
just said as another it's kind of a cautionary tale like you have to understand when to go for it and when
54:49
when to let go of it and start getting up you know some people tend to stay a little bit too long hunting for those
54:55
submissions and end up in their back and they end up losing a fight that way almost happened to me but I mean again that's how that's
55:02
how we learn yeah sometimes it's a hard learning experience but yes there there are submissions everywhere it's um you
55:09
know that that skill and understanding um the right time the right place the right moment to to abandon or to go for
55:16
it yeah yeah so uh I actually did a little grappling thing this weekend you
55:22
did it was very fun um fight to win if you guys have ever seen that anywhere

around it's it's pretty fun event you basically just have one round you go crazy and then you get to hang out with
55:36
your friends afterwards and drink and stuff drink and eat so it was cool I want you to do it I would love to yeah I
55:43
want you to do it I think that would be a lot of fun I'm still waiting to hear back about that one super fight at the Apex in September I don't I don't know
55:51
if it's going to happen or not I like immediately sent in my information yes so we'll see
55:56
if not that then I would love to get my feet wet you know in competition with a grappling match mhm and I like the way
56:03
it's set up because whenever you go to a tournament it's like yeah I get the feel
56:08
of competition once you get in there but when it comes to those one versus one
56:16
matches where it's a super fight people are waiting for you to walk out there's
56:21
a star down that always makes it a little more realistic to what we go through it's a great fight simulation it
56:27
really is yeah yeah it's it's really important I think for fighters to get in especially when you haven't been in
56:33
there in a while I think it's a really fun thing to do and for me the more I can do that the better because the
56:39
nerves are are so annoying to deal with on Fight Night that's what he was
56:45
talking about that uh little moment before you walk out if someone gets a quick Knock on you're like God damn
56:52
it I thought I had five extra minutes thanks a lot
56:59
Deon well should we talk about our boy energy before we do our bonus I think we
57:06
should yes so we got our skullet gang um gear
57:12
on if you don't know what a skullet is just watch any of Charles Johnson's
57:17
fights and you will see it is a thing it's a choice it's a
57:25
it it is a choice it's a personal choice I'm growing and
57:30
learning to support it and embrace it maybe Rock one one day no no no no but I
57:38
support him I support him it's his trademark you know what he makes it look good he does he does he's got he's got
57:44
the style for it he makes it look good he gets the cool designs in the back of it he does it wasn't dyed this time
57:52
normally it's like it's colored I think it's been like green and purple yeah was just it was lowkey it gives uh crusty
57:59
the crown Vibes when it's DED I don't I'm I'm in
58:05
two minds about letting Adam try it I'm not sure if he could pull it off don't do it I should get him to do it hey guys
58:12
if you want to see Adam try to pull off a skullet say something in the comments
58:18
and if we get five comments for all it takes all that's all
58:24
it takes going to go comment five times Jaz isn't
58:31
allowed we'll have to have Adam Rock a skullet in my next fight in my next Corner oh and we have fight
58:37
news oh are we allowed to talk about that yeah we are you wait till exclusive content time yeah I think we should yeah
58:45
some fight news in the exclusive content if you're a member you can hear right now but if not you're going to have to
58:52
wait a few days oh so we'll see you in a second
