ready yes hello hello we're back with a
0:08
new set we have moved we moved we're in a
0:14
new place with new uh things to figure out thanks for bearing with us yeah but
0:20
I feel like this looks more professional it looks like one of those like actual podcast Studios I feel like we're on
0:27
bean bags in the 70s yeah it's so fun we're just like ready for our sleepover
0:34
we already like did our makeovers and everything just curled my hair it was an
0:41
experience it was I think I did a great job culturally cultural
0:48
experience and now we're here ready for our bedtime stories where should we begin oh so much
0:55
uh fighting happened your thing's being mad at you what it do did I miss it yeah just like
1:03
SL down is that okay it's fine yeah I just like looked at and it was like
1:09
said it's like you turned him down after he bought you a [Laughter]
1:16
drink thought it would work this time it didn't you got to bring more than a drink sorry personality counts too yeah
1:24
and a horse a horse helps bring in a horse a horse helps dude could could you imagine
1:30
if a guy rolled up to a bar with a horse I might jump on and ride off into the
1:35
sunset with right that do it for me I I feel like that could be the move like if
1:41
you guys go to like line dance places or something roll up in a horse you probably back any girl there definitely
1:48
if you know how to two-step jump off a horse and twostep run on the Dance Floor got any girl I was trying to I was
1:54
trying to tell one of my friends Sons like take dance classes this is the key
1:59
to success you may think it's like not masculine right now but you will get all
2:06
of the chicks cuz all the girls left to dance you got to do things that girls want to do exactly see the the Mexican
2:13
men they know you know the Spanish men they know they know how to do all the like fun little uh you know the batas
2:21
and the mer and the Salas and like the hottest old guys there will be the ones
2:26
that can spin you around and like do the Little D dance shimmy while you're behind them and then they spin you back
2:32
around they're very forceful but not too forceful just leaning to dance confident
2:39
they're confident they take control um anytime I go to social dancing I have an old man spinning me around the dance Flo
2:46
and and it works it works has me thinking about him later guys if if you're a man that watches this podcast
2:53
learn to dance and if you're a girl that watches this watch out for [ __ ] who can dance because you know they're a
2:59
ho fair point he is a
3:04
hoe you're not the only girl he's spinning around the down floor honey no no he comes every night appreciate it
3:11
for what it is be in the moment exactly that's it that's all you can be gu he
3:16
dances um you know who was doing um some good dancing on his feet was Sean Brady
3:23
he looked so improved from his fight with balal yes he his so he was like
3:30
only throwing a double jab cross in his fight with bala that was it looked very rudimentary mhm um I mean effective he
3:37
he did well for it for a time but he looked completely revamped his cardio
3:43
the pace that he pushed on Gilbert burn he did not give Gilbert Burns a a moment
3:50
to to get his offense he had some great counters with his grappling but it just
3:56
the the pressure the pace of Shawn Brady just was too much yeah he going to get
4:01
going it um you could see him start to put something together start to put a little offense every now and then he
4:08
playing something good or get a good takedown and you're like okay Burns is in it he's in the fight and then Brady
4:14
would just keep like bum bum bum just like nicking away at him throwing those
4:20
uh charging combos uh that it's really funny the way that works for some people
4:27
like the fact that Gilbert Burns was moving backwards it really made Brady get ahead of him so even when Burns
4:34
would land every now and then with a bit of power there was no way he could catch up because Brady was just backing him up
4:41
the entire time and then when they would get close enough to grab each other he'd be the one initiating the clinch or at
4:47
least pushing up against the fence really draining Burns's arms out I mean that's kind of what happened to me in my
4:53
last fight just getting pushed up against that fence when no activity is going on your arms if you're fighting
5:00
for freedom and the other person is just latched on and holding and pushing if
5:06
they're not getting a taked down they're still using less energy than you are trying to get off of that fence so I
5:12
felt like Burns just really got the wind taken out of his cells in those parts of
5:18
the exchange and then he would try to land with power and miss and then Brady would just land with volume and he was
5:25
really putting everything together really well with his legs too mhm that was one thing with Burns that I saw he
5:31
was relying too much on the big Power shots he wasn't able to because of
5:38
Brady's offense or because he just it wasn't what he was trying to work with
5:43
that night but he was only throwing one or two big Power shots he wasn't keeping
5:49
Brady honest with those with those faints and the volume just putting his punches out could have potentially
5:55
changed the the pace the Cadence of the fight yeah um but it just just it was really impressive the way Brady showed
6:01
up and and showed out for that fight he he looked just completely renewed he
6:08
took all the feedback from that fight with balal and he reinvented himself which is just what you want to see in a
6:13
fighter after a loss yeah um you can tell he did some inner work too like a
6:19
lot of mindset stuff all of his uh interviews his post fight his pre-fight
6:24
media scrum um he was talking a lot about not showing up and the B fight and
6:30
not being able to uh be in the moment and be present and all these keywords
6:36
that let you know okay he's working with somebody or he got a good book or he's like something happened where he was
6:42
able to tap into this power that is being in control of your mindset going
6:48
into a fight because we're always in these high pressure situations and especially someone who's undefeated you
6:55
you have that fear of the unknown like you have that fear of what's going to happen once I lose my oh you feel like
7:01
that's the thing that makes you special that's the thing that uh makes you unique so as soon as you lose your
7:07
you're old then nobody's going to care about you anymore so he was saying that losing that zero on his record was
7:14
actually a burden lifted and now he was free to just perform and be in the
7:20
moment and not worry so much about oh what happens if I win or lose but just try to outperform in every moment of the
7:27
fight yeah if you're trying to hold on on to something I feel like that's when you start kind of losing sight of of the
7:33
objective you start fighting not to to lose and that takes the edge off and it
7:39
puts a lot of pressure on and I think that um as to what you were saying is just very Fring for him to be able to
7:46
let the O go be in the moment um just really figure out what he wanted to
7:52
execute and and do it mhm and I feel like the longer the fight went on the
7:57
better striking look like I was talking dude I was not impressed with his
8:04
striking in his previous fights I was talking mad [ __ ] like oh I think Gilbert's going to have the advantage on
8:10
the feat and it's pretty much the consensus of everyone else thinking about this matchup like yeah the
8:15
grappling is going to be amazing Burns might have the advantage on the feat but we think Brady can handle it instead
8:22
Brady handled every area like he did great grappling great wrestling great
8:28
counter wrestling um um uh and then great striking on top of all that like
8:33
his jab like you were saying it was so sharp it was so fast every time Burns would kind of come forward he' just get
8:40
popped with the jab right as he was trying to load up and throw something big and that's so frustrating for a
8:45
power Striker to get hit and interrupted when you're about to throw something big that just completely throws you off your
8:51
game so the Jabs the pressure up against the fence the charging combinations all
8:58
that stuff just totally outworked Gilbert Burns I people were saying that it was dominant I feel
9:05
like winning every round doesn't necessarily mean domination I felt like
9:11
Burns did do well in the third round I think in the fourth too he was doing kind of well but it's just he couldn't
9:18
match the volume and he couldn't land anything that really made a difference in each round but uh he was in the fight
9:25
the whole time yeah it was a competitive fight I mean in in no way shape or form you know they they talk about Agee they
9:31
talk about slowing down oh the age talk it it drives me crazy like finding something else to talk about it it just
9:39
I mean the way bisbing was talking about it I was like he's projecting did you run out of [ __ ] to say yeah he is
9:45
predicting he isting of course because he retired at what what was he like 36
9:51
or something 36 a little maybe yeah but he's like this is what happens when you're old this is what happens when
9:57
everybody's old listen is a state of mind okay it's it's a state of mind it's
10:02
a mentality and yes there are certain things that you have to change as you get you know up in years it it's just a
10:09
reality of the situation but that doesn't necessarily mean that that is the end all be all that that is you know
10:15
you have to retire it's just it's different for everybody everybody's on a different path and journey everybody has
10:21
different strengths things to work on um but I'm I'm mentally Forever
10:27
21 I think I just keep getting better that's that's my
10:33
mentality mentally infinity sign for
10:39
Jessica but I it was impressive uh Brady systematically wore him down I thought
10:45
his you know the over unders Against the Cage they were they were draining they were tactical um he wasn't wasting as
10:53
much energy as Burns Burns had beautiful moments of reversals like we got to see some beautiful grappling scrambles which
11:00
I was really hoping for in this fight although I thought it would be more of a striking match just because their their
11:05
Jiu-Jitsu would kind of cancel each other out but I I rather enjoyed the fight I don't think it was completely
11:12
dominant as as we were talking about previously it was a competitive fight but Brady just had the edge yeah he did
11:18
um when he was saying uh that if you shake up the fight with him and bow 10
11:24
times he wins nine times out of 10 o what did you think about that or what do
11:30
you think about that knowing that information I think that that is a great mentality to have I think he obviously
11:36
learned a lot from that fight and I would love to see that fight run back uh
11:42
because balal looked much improved since his last outing um Brady looked much improved
11:49
since his last outing so I I would love to see you know a couple more fights with Brady you know get him working up
11:55
that ladder just a little bit um and and just see how it goes but I think I think that's the right mentality and the right mindset that he has to have yeah for
12:02
sure it's um I think a lot of people can let that be a defeating thing losing
12:09
your zero or losing to someone who is now the champion but he's using that as
12:15
a a goal and you know most people should be able to take that okay the only person I lost to is Champion now people
12:23
didn't respect him when we fought and therefore they didn't respect me losing to him but look at him now this loss
12:30
aged really well and then eventually if I keep working my way up I'll be able to
12:36
get that Revenge fight yeah absolutely I see that happening you know maybe within the next year if he keeps winning if he
12:43
keeps putting on shows like he has I think that he's in a great place mentally physically emotionally you know
12:49
he has a daughter on the way he has a new motivation for him I was going to say that Dad energy came early it was
12:56
pre dad energy yes and that that goes a long way so I think
13:01
that um you know he's he's been on um uh people have had him like on you
13:10
know their their top prospects and I think that he even though with a loss I I don't think that that hinders him at
13:15
all I think it's actually um motivating because he's taken it and and done something with it yeah it seems like
13:21
he's going overtime in the gym and that's the best thing a loss can do is just convince you okay I need to put a
13:28
little more effort in and then I'll be able to perform on Fight Night half as good as I perform in the gym yeah lassos
13:34
are meant to motivate us they're they're meant to stimulate growth they're meant to you know just just be feedback and
13:40
let us see what we have to work on where the holes the gaps need to be filled in and a loss doesn't Define us and I think
13:46
that's what Brady showed us yeah so what do you think about his Ian Gary call out I love it and with the same manager I
13:54
love it I want to see that I'm so supportive of that one next yes he I
13:59
mean technically it doesn't do anything for him but I think it does something for him I love that Philly attitude man
14:05
like just like is so just matter of fact nothing corny about it like very just
14:12
businessyoutube
14:29
it's kind of frowned upon to fight somebody under the same management but uh clearly they don't go to Team
14:37
barbecues together no he's like we're not friends don't get it twisted we're not friends I'm definitely ready to
14:44
fight you yeah no I want to see that one too it's uh it seems like the kind of matchup that uh Ian Gary cannot you know
14:52
get on his bicycle for he can't do the things that he's been doing to like squeak out the winds no I mean I think
14:59
Gary has the Precision to make uh to make him not be able to
15:06
charge like that like if anything this was a great fight to happen before Gary
15:11
fights him because he's seeing where he can hit his check hooks where he can like create distance where he can get
15:17
out of the way and he's not going to turn into Gary mamed off against Brady
15:23
either this would not be a good one to do that out of him oh goodness but I
15:29
would love to see that because we have uh Gary who's just like this Elite Striker who hasn't been striking lately
15:35
I'm not sure what that's about but in a fight where he's definitely going to be outmatched on the ground this is a great
15:41
one where we might see classic Ian Gary again the one that people were excited about before you know Sean Strickland
15:48
tried to ruin his social life man Sean Strickland has been coming
15:54
for people he was just um coming for Tiki yes what happened with that he got
16:00
shut up real quick um there was
16:05
just there was a lot of stuff in the rumor mill how um you know this this
16:10
manager who's like very much in in the scene um was maybe taking advantage of
16:17
of younger people um and Strickland went with I think without even knowing a lot of information about the story just like
16:23
took to social media and just started a whole bunch of buz I haven't heard anything more about about it since then
16:30
but it's just one of those things where I think that means he got shut up maybe he was on to something maybe he
16:37
found out a little too much you never know man that's why you can't ask too much about the alien stuff man like
16:44
people keep asking me I'm like yo y'all want me to get
16:49
probed y'all y'all want them to come down snatch me out of my bed in the
16:55
middle of the night with a ray of light and get Pro probed and I'm not it's I'm
17:01
not letting it happen sorry guys don't ask questions you don't want
17:07
to answer to but with the tiki thing like uh he was a coach right coach and
17:12
manager yeah so you see that a lot nowadays people coming out um coach
17:18
saying or admitting that they've been abused by coaches and uh and it's really
17:25
sad because usually this happens when they're too young to know any better too young to know what's going on or the
17:30
fact that they're being taken advantage of or they're not doing anything wrong by refusing yeah it's [ __ ] up and
17:39
these are these are those relationships that are so you know important and um
17:45
imprinting on on people and a lot of young athletes coming up they want you know to be a part of things they want to
17:52
fit in they want to make people proud of them they want the pat on the head from
17:58
coach they want to be noticed Notice Me Senpai yes please so they'll put themselves in
18:04
really precarious situations and situations that they wouldn't otherwise
18:09
be in because they want because they want that so it's just um I I hope it's
18:15
not true I do you know him um or have you met him before yeah I've met him
18:20
he's from hington Beach yeah yeah that's what I figured yeah do you know him no I do
18:27
not good moving on you're too old for
18:33
him oh my goodness oh God in the co-main
18:40
event we had Jessica anj versus Natalia Silva that was a great fight that fight
18:47
was so and again people are like oh she dominated her this fight was a lot more
18:54
competitive than the main event it was very competitive on jge had you know she
19:00
has such such grit and just like that [ __ ] it you know she has that like coming forward even if I'm losing I'm
19:07
still going to try and hurt you like there's no there's no give in her very Terminator esque in very much and she
19:13
had she had a really tall order for her um and Natalia Silva just didn't stop moving she had great footwork she uses
19:20
her lead leg really well everything is you know power sharp movement so she's
19:25
just very elusive explosive and she made it really hard for andr to
19:31
like Implement her game plan to like get that take down to get down to where she
19:36
could kind of neutralize the the size and speed Advantage yeah it was hard for her to track her um Silva did a great
19:44
job moving back and forth and it seemed like it it's like that trap that you get
19:49
put in when you're fighting someone who's really good at lateral Mo movement they back up they like to hit off the
19:55
back foot so it seems like you're going to get them like oh they're right at the fence I'm going to get them and then
20:01
they just step out of the way and then you follow them and you get smacked in the head yeah you know she
20:08
was doing a really good job of leading and Dro right into the strike that she wanted to do it's kind of what we
20:14
trained to do but on the opposite end like if we were in drad we would be trying to cut her off with punches Cut
20:21
Her Off with kicks but because she was so much longer because she had such great like dexterity with her legs and
20:28
was able to throw so many different types of kicks she was able to do the leading of the dance and cut and drw off
20:34
even though she had her back to the fence it was really impressive to see and I haven't really seen too many people do it like that especially in her
20:41
division yeah she was really good at getting on draa square up so it's like
20:46
she kind of shortened her reach on either side and she already has that reach disadvantage just you know stature
20:52
wise so she just andrad kind of just played right into the game plan of and
20:59
it was it was very masterful and she had a great call out right afterwards she you know is already calling for her
21:04
title shot and I'm not mad at it you know there's a little bit there's a little bit of a line but I think she's
21:10
right at the at the backlog after um Manan after um Rose and um blanchfield
21:20
yes so there's a couple people in front of her but she's really exciting she's been dominant she's on what a six fight
21:26
win streak now I mean she just she's right there six in the UFC only 12
21:32
outside of the UFC um and yeah there's a few people in front of her I mean blonde
21:39
fighter is right ahead of her she probably won't be after this weekend
21:44
after they retali the rankings but that might be an interesting match up because they're both like very heavy with the
21:50
volume they're both counter Strikers it could be super boring but we'd have to
21:55
um see Natalia get more aggressive with it come forward a bit more and see what
22:02
happens then but I think uh when it comes to the next up like yeah she's
22:07
right there man one more win and she's going to get that they did mention Macy Barber how do you think they match
22:14
together if that fight happens I would love to see that one too that's um I really wanted to see Macy and Rose but
22:22
um roseen blanchfield I'm happy with I think that yeah if Macy doesn't have a fight why not yeah if she can stay
22:29
healthy yeah cuz it that was the thing right that pulled her out of that fight yeah um who she supposed to fight she
22:36
was supposed to Rose or yeah okay yeah she was supposed to fight her in Denver and then Cortez ended up stepping in
22:43
poor Cortez and then they eyelash fell off ripped off it's all Macy Barbara's
22:50
fault it is Macy got eyelashes too right does she fight in eyelashes has
22:55
eyelashes no I don't think she does okay I I felt like I seen that before maybe
23:00
maybe maybe out of the cage yeah you know who does fight in eyelashes Jackie and moram and she never gets him hit
23:08
because she goes straight for a Tak down and straight for a submission as she did
23:13
um so what did you think about the demopoulos um complaining about the the
23:19
fingers and the gloves so they actually showed the picture and her fingers yes were in there not like
23:26
completely in but she had like you know the first knuckle in there and it yes it
23:32
is illegal but I think she should have focused more on getting out of that
23:38
really tough situation um give the ref a heads up what she did but I think she was just so
23:45
focused on the foul and what was happening that she stopped defending did
23:50
she if she would have a case for that maybe getting overturned if she
23:56
armbarred the side that was holding the glove see I was thinking that too like I
24:01
feel like she would have a case for something but still it'd be very unlikely that she get it overturned but
24:09
the thing is with MMA a lot of the rules are just really strong suggestions like
24:15
there's been so many no seriously there's been so many fights where people are eye poking eye gouging fish hooking
24:23
grabbing the fence doing just about everything you can to foul the person
24:28
and it's like okay we're going to maybe take a point what's his name uh M pulled
24:34
a cop's whole [ __ ] out you know like [ __ ] he pulled his whole cheek out is
24:40
what I meant to say luckily his whole was still tucked between
24:46
them but he pulled it was safely secured he but in Manel cop he complained but he
24:53
didn't throw his arms up and let himself get choked no he stayed on task yeah he's like pulling my pants down as he
24:59
stayed framed up and you know protected himself so I was a bit annoyed at
25:06
theopolis for reacting that way it looked very green and it looked very emotional and uh you know you can't you
25:14
can't have those moments in a fight like you have to remember that you are fighting a person and just because a rap
25:20
is there doesn't mean that the person fighting you is going to play by the rules before they try to break your arm
25:27
like it's it's uh it's fighting like uh that's one thing that Dom kept saying all card it's fighting I think something
25:34
else weird happened uh where there was a foul and the guy was complaining but you
25:41
know you still have to protect yourself when it happens yeah I mean first and foremost it's a fight protect yourself at all times even if somebody is being
25:48
shady even if somebody is you know doing something foul is illegal whatever you have it you have to protect yourself and
25:54
you have to stay on task it's just otherwise going to get hurt otherwise you'll get submitted yeah and then um
26:02
yeah it was it was frustrating to watch I I understand the frustration because
26:07
there are rules that are set in place we are supposed to abide by them and when people find this gray area this um
26:17
opportunity to do something that you're not supposed to you just kind of have to to roll with it and if people don't if a
26:24
ref doesn't call it then you just have to be okay with that yeah there was uh
26:29
plenty of time for her to not just complain about it but reach over with
26:37
her free hand and fight the grip inside of her glove MH like that should have been the
26:45
reaction but instead she went she's holding my
26:52
glove break like she she literally gave her the arm as she was complaining like
26:58
I watched it a bunch of times cuz I was like oo yeah she's holding her glove real bad and then I'm like but what's the other arm doing and I'm like why is
27:06
she giving her the arm it was It was obviously a lapse in just focus and that
27:13
happens everyone's human um but yeah you got to you got to be ready for that that that's like uh you know when I do my
27:19
prep for my fights and I write down all the different situations that can happen that can throw me off that's one of them
27:26
like what if the person's cheating this or that or that and the main the
27:32
main game is make sure you're if you can complain but first
27:38
priority is making sure you're safe and making sure you're not going to you know allow that to take you out of the fight
27:45
and that's what happened with the mopis so it's a learning lesson you know it's a learning lesson she'll go on to learn
27:51
from that maybe she'll learn her own little sneaky glove grab rules because it is really easy for that to happen
27:58
just because we have these tiny little rest and the glove sinks right in there it's it's a
28:05
really easy thing to do I feel like it's happened to me every fight
28:11
yeah well lesson learned lesson learn cautionary tail yeah meanwhile um emiram
28:17
is coming with uh two armar submissions in a row so um it'll be interesting to
28:24
see who she gets next probably uh someone in top 15 next I think that's a that's an easy one to
28:31
say um that's fair absolutely she's been um steadily getting better and better
28:39
and she has um I think since her it was Sam Hughes who she lost to right and
28:44
she's won every other fight in the UFC I think so yeah to um but yeah that
28:50
that'll be interesting to see who she gets next um I actually uh got to train with
28:55
her back when she was in South Carolina before she fought for the LFA title she
29:03
was training with our boy Danny Martinez I love Danny Danny he's
29:08
teaching her how to be an MMA everybody needs a Danny in their gym yes he's so
29:14
motivational so like just like you know that [ __ ] it attitude he'll come in do
29:20
the work doesn't matter what he was doing last night how crazy he got at the bar you know how much work he has to do
29:27
he'll always come do the work leave happy yeah he's like the the team
29:33
captain yes for sure totally team captain he's always in shape he's always ready to go he's always ready to help
29:40
yeah um he's yeah he's a great great teammate great supporter so um did you
29:47
figure it out yes so her so her last uh her last loss was to Sam Hughes and I
29:54
think that was our first fight in the UFC her first fight in the UFC and then she went on to beat um monzerat Ruiz and
30:03
then Cory McKenna and now Vanessa Deus so that is three in a row MH um all
30:10
finishes wow so yeah super impressive uh that's a that's a quick route to the to
30:16
the top 15 for sure yeah for sure we'll see where she lands on Tuesday um
30:23
speaking of Team captains our favorite homie was fighting on bkfc I just got
30:31
chills man he was that he was like made and built for that yes specifically
30:38
there that is not something that I ever want to experience in my life I am happy to support all of my friends doing it we
30:46
have too many friends doing it I think we have two but two it's too many it's
30:51
too many my heart can't take it oh my gosh it's just um bar knuckle fighting I
30:57
swear it is I everybody has said to me you know throughout my career in mixed martial
31:03
arts that it's oh it's too brutal it's so brutal no bare knuckle fighting is
31:08
brutal it makes you appreciate how much of a sport uh Power slab is you power
31:15
slap no not Power slap but how much of a sport I I was going to say MMA but I
31:22
knew I need laugh I need laugh at Power SL now it makes me appreciate how much
31:28
of a sport MMA is um because you have gloves you have gloves it's you get to
31:35
do other things aside from punch people in the face and bare knuckle oh there's so much damage taken there's so much
31:42
damage it's like neither person wins nobody wins your hands get [ __ ] up
31:47
both of you are going to end up in the hospital next to each other every time I have been to a bar knuckle boxing fight
31:54
there is just this crazy there are so many like it's like triage like on on a
32:00
battlefield there's just so many beds because and everybody everyone has gauze
32:05
around their forehead yes it is insane there's a guy playing the
32:11
flute it's insane everybody has something broken everybody has stitches
32:17
um everybody has mandatory like at least 6 weeks suspension like it's not it is
32:23
not one of those those like um those things that you can just like like a a
32:30
grappling tournament yeah you can just casually do this yeah like you're going to need some time to recover and and
32:37
you're going to be in pain for a while it's I'm always amazed at the people who come out unscathed like no cuts no lumps they're
32:44
just like just trauma yeah especially the ones who made it to the uh to the
32:51
scorecard every now and then you'll see some lucky guy who makes it to the scorecard not a scratch on him it's it's
32:57
crazy to me too because like just damage is going to be part of it so you're
33:03
going to get cut up most likely like high 90s you're going to get cut up and to see some of the fights that get
33:09
stopped by cuts are it's kind of like well that's just part of it like that's part of the sport so I feel like you
33:15
should let those go yeah yeah um oh what what about that eye poke thing that
33:20
happened that was so wild which uh remind me so that for in bkfc there was
33:26
a guy who was fighting I'm not going to remember who it was but a guy was fighting he get punched he gets punched
33:32
in the face um they stop it because he complains about an eye yes yes
33:38
and a knuckle with no padding on is going to feel exactly like a eyeball get
33:44
or a finger tip going into your eyeball so you can't blame him for complaining about that but because it was an actual
33:52
punch they stopped the fight yeah it was roll the TKO I remember that it's such um seem like they gave him a chance to
33:59
keep fighting they were just like oh you reacted badly to an actual punch so fight's over let me punch you in the
34:05
face and hit your eyeball with my knuckle and see how you respond it's just one of those things those human ER
34:11
you know you're you're in a fight you're trying to protect yourself you want to keep it fair mhm if it was a foul then
34:18
it's a foul and you get time if it's not then you just I feel like it should have just been restarted mhm uh because in
34:25
those kind of high tense situations he was was just trying to make sure that everything was Square yeah and the only
34:33
time I feel like you should do that with a foul is when a guy complains about a nut shot and then you look at the tape
34:40
and there was no nutshot cuz that happens a lot I it
34:45
happens a lot like I've it came up in Muay Thai and that [ __ ] would happen all
34:51
the time like once a card and people would look at it and they see the replay and they go that was the lever he KN him
34:57
in the stomach you got knocked out you got knocked out you basically got knocked out but it's like okay if you get hit with a KNE to the lever just
35:03
grab your crotch you know grab your crotch and you can fake it I mean I it's
35:09
a strategy it is why not it works yeah it definitely works so that's the only
35:15
time I would use that rule but I feel like it's unfair to do that for an eye poke because a lot of times like even
35:21
with the gloves on you get punched good enough and it feels like they jabbed you in the eye you're like wait wait wait
35:27
that's not fair feels like my eyes going to explode yeah hold up like don't don't pull a theopolis and just be like he
35:33
punched me he poked me in the eye and drop your hands and turn away from the
35:39
from the uh from your opponent but you know you should be allowed to complain and at least see if there was a file
35:45
there yeah and if there's not just go ahead and start it I think that was unnecessarily harsh of a punishment you
35:52
know it was it was an honest mistake I don't think that he was trying to play game or anything like that I
35:58
think that he he felt something and he wanted to check on it yeah um speaking of unnecessarily
36:05
harsh what did you think about David Feldman going in on the two women in the
36:12
main event of bkfc you know what I never like
36:17
hearing a promoter an owner talk badly about the people that are fighting for
36:23
his company that are promoting his business both of those women
36:28
were there they earned their spot um at at a you know at the main event they're
36:34
both in their own rights exciting people maybe you know it wasn't their night to put on an exciting fight there was a lot
36:40
on the line I understand the strategy that uh Manan Wang had against Masa Wong
36:46
Masa Wang sorry you know it's like my uh nickname for Adam's big
36:51
old beong
37:00
this show has been cancelled so uncomfortable so uncomfortable this show has been cancell we ble that out anywh
37:07
who listen um Christine is is a dangerous fighter and
37:15
I understood I can't with you I just can't with you I'm trying so hard to
37:20
like course correct
37:28
uh whoops oh you knew what you were doing yeah you knew you knew you'd make me
37:36
uncomfortable call you mass of
37:42
w oh anyways listen I I understood the
37:49
strategy yeah that I can't say her that m a head I understand her strategy and I
37:57
I actually had her up on the scorecards because of it to because Christine's game plan she is so dangerous in the
38:03
pocket and it's um she's become more of a a technical Striker now that she's working with a different with a
38:09
different coach she's really sharpened up her boxing technique and uh but her
38:14
she's still very dangerous in the pocket because she just will unload punches so I understood the game plan yeah and
38:21
getting back to what you were saying about Feldman I never like hearing somebody speak badly about their fight
38:27
ERS listen they went on and they put on a performance I thought it was a
38:33
tactical fight um I thought it was a very exciting I mean not necessarily the
38:38
most exciting fight but I didn't think that it deserved the criticism that it
38:43
had like not every fight is going to be fireworks that you want it to be yeah
38:49
and uh maybe that just comes with experience in being a promoter uh
38:55
knowing that sometimes you're going to get a dud of a fight or just not even a dud but just something that isn't as
39:00
visually pleasing as Jeremy Stevens walking down a guy and him collapsing on
39:06
his knee after a jab that happened 10 seconds ago like the drama of the co
39:12
main was such a hard act to follow anyway that you know they were kind of
39:19
doomed from the start but uh yeah it like you were saying it was a great game plan to stifle her it was similar to
39:25
what uh Silva was doing to andrad every time that andrad would get into that range where she was really dangerous
39:32
Silva would grab the head she would get her into the clinch and make it so that she couldn't really get off those hooks
39:38
that she likes to hit the ones that ended up dropping D and all the other people that she's like messed up in the
39:44
past so that was a really smart tactical thing um by uh by masong but she wasn't
39:52
able to put that excitement behind it and that's where the CR criticism was coming from the booze were happening but
40:00
these girls were still fighting their hearts out and I was I mean I think I was most excited to see who the winner
40:07
was going to be after that because I thought like you that massong was up and
40:12
they ended up giving it to Faria I think she landed kind of like a little bit of power um maybe the last couple of rounds
40:21
but yeah I'm still surprised that she won it to be honest yeah they I heard the broadcast team say well you really
40:27
have to take take it away from the champ and I think that and if that's true
40:32
anywhere it would be bkfc listen and I mean just I I just
40:38
really have to back them up from the criticism the criticism because in a sport we were just talking about there
40:44
is so much possibility for damage you like you want that longevity you know
40:50
you want to be able to have a quicker turnaround you don't want to have to have that like painful recovery I
40:55
understand why um there was such like tactical strategy
41:02
I understand that um far is a very dangerous fighter she's um I think she's
41:08
a great representation for for that sport for that organization and I think that Feldman just needs to chill a
41:14
little bit relax chill relax he had a whole prelim full of Kos like don't
41:21
don't get greedy chill the audience can sit through one
41:26
fight that doesn't end in a bloody mess yeah come on come on oh man well uh
41:33
there's some more fights on the UFC card that I want to get to but first let's
41:38
talk about bellad we had a couple friends over there and we did you had
41:45
tickets but I guess tickets you did I didn't you did at wil call what
41:53
yeah I didn't know that I mean you guys all made plans to
41:58
go nobody told me what yes oh my gosh no
42:03
I'm you know I like to be invited I likeed there to be a plan I'm like I'm not just going to go with two tickets
42:09
and sip on myself well we had two teammates fighting so I assumed way to change the subject you would have wanted
42:15
to go support in person but instead just supported on the comfort of her home
42:21
which I was I was dying Grace and I were like on my computer in my room with my
42:27
little portable AC it is like it's 100° in my house it is so hot that's why
42:33
we're all shoulders out like I am like I'm sweating so
42:39
bad it is so hot my God oh my gosh it's right yeah well that's what you get for
42:48
not for not putting in any effort to go I just remember how hot it was when I
42:53
was at your fight there yeah it was the same place exactly and I was like I'll die it was freezing in there though like
43:00
I'm so jealous I should have gone yeah no it was nice it was comfortable it was uh it was fun I was walking around ooh
43:07
and guess who rzed me up who do you know what Riz is I just found that out no
43:12
it's like when I got not that cool I was going to I was going to search on my computer right now I was
43:18
like yeah you're like I'll use the context clues from the story about the exactly exactly I was going to figure it
43:23
out and if not I got the computer it's okay I I'm in the same boat I just like I kept seeing all these Tik toks about
43:30
it and I'm like what's is but uh it's basically like when a guy like kind of you know makes you feel good about
43:36
yourself and like it's either they're hitting on you or they're just doing it to do it I don't know I don't really
43:42
know the meaning behind it but like I totally got rised up by Drew Dober oh
43:49
okay and there's like only a handful of guys in the UFC that make you feel as
43:58
giddy is when a pretty girl tells you that you look good okay you know what I
44:03
mean so it's like Drew Dober maybe uh adna's
44:08
homeboy uh orberg oh very modly looking and like maybe someone like a Joe ban
44:15
you know like just like the pretty boys of the UFC I'm like okay this is basically you're basically uh you know a
44:23
hot girl telling me that I look good so was feeling myself basically we were we
44:29
were standing there D Dober walks by he does like the double take like in the
44:34
movies like when uh when the girl takes her glasses off and you're like wait is
44:40
that Angela Hill I was like hi Drew he's like you're gorgeous
44:48
wow I can't wait to tell [Laughter] Adam I'm like hey Massa Wong
44:57
guess what
45:05
happened but yeah that made my night so I was really feeling myself um but I
45:11
have options I know I look good it's like
45:16
Waiting to Exhale and she was like and I still look good and waiting for her friends to
45:21
confirm she's like I said I still look good you look good girl that's what over
45:27
dead for me um but but yeah on top of that uh two of
45:33
our home girls got some big wins uh Ashley ther she's been sparring with us
45:40
um I [ __ ] hate sparring her biggest STW weight you've ever seen she's so big and lanky and and obnoxious oh my God
45:48
freaking PR mantis stand it can't stand it so she finally did it to someone else
45:55
and now we can like respect easier to support
46:00
it as long as you're not on the receiving end you go girl yes good job job good job so like every time Jenna
46:06
wins I'm like oh you you just like destroyed her face you just choked the
46:12
[ __ ] out of her I love it it's great it was beautiful and then when she's back
46:17
in Camp I'm like I [ __ ] hate sparing you go away get out of here stay home go
46:25
work with someone else God so mean oh but yeah so I'm excited for
46:31
her she got her first one uh big debut KO and uh the funny part was her dance
46:39
afterwards went more viral than her KO wait did you see it I did I saw it I saw
46:45
it and then I and I like glanced at the comments and I was like you know what I'm just gonna just going to move on oh
46:52
but it's a great representation of her personality she's it's the same thing we've been talking about just doesn't
46:58
give a [ __ ] yeah in the when it comes to dancing at least cannot dance oh to save
47:05
her life but it's me hey hey she she was pretty good at being a backup dancer in
47:12
our sexy red video she was she just had to hold on to the door in those heels to
47:18
balance herself hey if you want to check out the girl that we're talking about watch the first bellor fight from
47:23
yesterday but also watch the sexy red music video that we did she's the
47:29
whitest white girl in the background you can't miss her you can't miss her cannot miss her and then um our other homie
47:35
siko she was able to she did destroy oh she's so nice and so mean at the same
47:41
time I know I was like thank you for being so nice to me and sparring yeah cuz you can be a real dick no she was
47:47
she was mean she was mad mean and she's tough as hell because that armar was in
47:53
dude she fought it off so impressively her opponent was very adamant about those throws very
48:00
adamant about those takedowns and siko reacted responded and defended them very
48:05
impressively and I loved as soon as she had the opportunity to just like score and get after it she did yeah no I was
48:12
super impressed uh she was supposed to be fighting my friend Carrie
48:18
Melendez and I'm happy that my friends didn't fight because I don't like when that happens even though I get mad when
48:24
people say that I don't want you I want both of you to would [ __ ] off but that was me this
48:30
time well now you don't have to worry about it yay bullet dodged um another person that
48:38
I was really stoked seeing when was uh Loren Larin yes and he earned himself a title
48:45
shot he's been you know what he's been around for so long he's um he's just
48:51
been really impressive in in all of in all of his recent outings and he just seems to keep getting he has a really
48:57
fun striking style it's beautiful to watch him like mix it up and um I'm
49:03
really excited to see uh him fight for that title yeah man he's won uh nine out
49:10
of his last 10 fights which is insane he's been Super Active after leaving the UFC and I always remember that he left
49:18
the UFC off of a huge win a huge uh knockout of Neil Magny so I always think
49:26
think about that I'm like man I wonder why that happened I wonder like
49:31
if he's happy with the decision but he's been killing it outside of the UFC just like had a rough start but then was able
49:38
to pick up a ton of wins and every time he wins it's so nasty like this time it
49:43
was like a nasty like top of the head punch like who does that usually when
49:48
you see that top of the head knockout it's like a heavyweight throwing a big hook or it's a head kick that just
49:55
happens to graze that but he did it with a cross that's crazy yeah his his his hand
50:03
hurts it might yeah that was it looked so nasty the way the guy fell from it
50:08
yeah it might um yeah it's weird that he he left maybe he left on his own terms
50:14
just like our our buddy Phil Davis did yeah I think um maybe it was at that time when people were realizing that
50:20
there were just other opportunities outside of the UFC that may serve them better uh for a long time and I mean
50:26
still the still has um a a huge Monopoly a huge Corner
50:32
in the market for you know being the Premier League especially after the merger between that and Bell I I think
50:39
Bader was cutting a lot heavier checks then than they are now yeah I wonder what that looks like too I mean they
50:46
still have to honor those contracts well yeah they have to honor the contracts but that's why you haven't seen a lot of
50:51
the bake names that have been around fighting recently because they don't
50:56
want to pay them out yeah well it's I mean I feel like that is kind of part
51:02
for the course in a lot of organizations you see the people that are making bigger paychecks fighting less and less
51:09
and get kind of getting weeded out because you can get people you know newcomers fighting for a lot less more
51:16
frequently that's why uh the contender series is so huge right now um they love
51:21
getting people in on those Contender series contracts because they're coming in at a low pay rate and they're
51:28
performing very highly do you remember our ultimate fighter contracts what we started at and how many fights it was
51:35
for terrible I don't remember cuz I got cut before I fulfilled mine no it was like
51:42
what was it like an N eight or or 10 fight contract that's insane only going
51:48
up in increments of 2,000 on both sides if you win damn I remember uh yeah I
51:55
remember it was eight and eight for my first fight yeah and I was so stoked to
52:01
get that paycheck because I won um then the next fight it was 10 and 10 and then
52:07
I lost my next two so it was 10 and 10 for the next two I only got 10 each time
52:12
and then I was cut but I had no idea how many fights were on the contract but
52:18
when I got resigned it was still a lot I think it was like a sixf fight contract when I got resigned I fought I took the
52:25
short notice title fight and I was still on The Ultimate Fighter contract they would not let me they want to give you the uh Contender um cut I fought for
52:34
88 what no [ __ ] you got no like bonus money on top of that I got five of
52:40
the night that night no it's it's heartbreaking it's terrible because usually you get at
52:47
least like 200 to show when you're fighting for the belt yeah like that's
52:53
no not me that's like the low end yeah yeah that's that's crazy no would not would not let me renegotiate it was
53:00
awful yeah [ __ ] and that was 10 years ago so it wasn't that long it's not like
53:06
50 CR was a lot of money back then was just as bad it's terrible damn
53:15
it's terrible oh that sucks yep it does um you know what was one of my
53:22
favorite fights that I was really really looking forward to on the UFC main card [ __ ] up I'm still oh no I'm no I stay
53:30
I stay upset about it no it's [ __ ] [ __ ] I did not think that it was eight and eight like I assumed maybe
53:36
maybe they like disclosed the payout or something and added your bonus on top of
53:41
it or something like that it made it seem like you got a little bit more but that's [ __ ] up no Shelby said
53:47
absolutely not we can talk about it if you win yeah yeah crazy I was talking [ __ ]
53:53
to him about it the other uh the last time we were in an were you managed by Brian at that time
53:59
no oh okay if I had been he probably would had my back I was managed by Eric at that
54:04
time Shelby loves
54:10
Eric and we know why he hates
54:18
Brian yeah Eric is very pable and aable yeah yeah I was talking [ __ ] to him the
54:23
last time I saw him at uh UFC Anaheim love that I will talk [ __ ] to that man
54:29
till the day I die no I feel like he act like not being sarcastic I feel like he likes it maybe yeah I think he's into it
54:36
maybe like no cuz every time I see him he's like how's Jess yeah I'm like oh you you
54:43
need a little whipping you needed to put you over her
54:48
lap it's been a while you need a fix he has a type
54:55
yeah oh oh man but a great fight on the main card that I was really looking
55:00
forward to and definitely delivered was Steve Garcia versus Kyle Nelson oh yeah
55:06
Garcia is mean he's so mean why that is vicious yeah who who uh HT him he looks
55:14
he looks like somebody's dad already it's funny like I'm like that guy when I
55:20
that guy he's one of those people at a barbecue somebody would like get liquid courage and start talking [ __ ] to and then get their ass beat yeah yes and
55:27
everyone would be like so unassuming how did you let that guy beat you up exactly even after he's beaten your butt you're
55:34
like how how did this happen I lose to this guy no and he has been so devastating in all of his wins just like
55:41
kale after K after K it's really crazy like he he just has that gift to find
55:48
whatever violent way to finish you possible in that moment I loved it
55:53
because as soon so he was put in a bad position I think Nelson had his back and
55:59
then he reversed it and he as soon as he had the opportunity to he was unloading elbows ground and pound it was vicious
56:06
and normally like in a fight they were uh criticizing Lima um who had fought a
56:12
couple fights before him I think okay um Lima won it was dominant but he just it was a lot of control it was a lot
56:20
of dominant position but there was no damage being done and so they were using
56:25
that as an example of you know this is you know you want to showcase you want to display what you're doing you want to
56:32
win impressively decisively you don't want to just win so they were criticizing Lima and then Garcia comes on and shows like exactly what you're
56:38
supposed to be doing this is what you're supposed to do but not everyone's built like that like first of all he's built
56:44
like his fight prep is all I don't know it is all
56:50
sparring it's all sparring his his Mill prep is all like carbs you know like
56:58
like this guy he is so unassuming and it's crazy to see him flip that switch
57:03
and just go ham on people he's amazing yeah it's really cool to watch and you
57:09
know he um he did that on four days notice which is stupid impressive yeah I
57:16
thought that was somebody else Oh I thought it was Garcia he was saying 4 days notice on the thing oh I thought it
57:22
was uh that was schnell's opponent oh no it was no you're right you're right yeah yeah so he he didn't
57:30
have 4 days notice but he still came out there and looked really impressive um
57:38
yeah I don't know it's it's just something about him that is just you can't teach that you can't he got a Mean
57:45
Streak yeah he's able to just find the hole and pick and pick and land with
57:51
power and his elbows are so nasty that it's just like he does have a frame for
57:56
that like for elbows and ground and pound it's uh it's really cool to see
58:03
yeah speaking of that um that match up the match Snell versus Cody Duran we had
58:12
um we've had a lot of retirements this weekend yeah and they've all come in in
58:17
different ways and like some were planned it didn't I don't know it didn't seem like
58:22
Matt's was planned necessarily or maybe it was was like a thought in his head but it wasn't one of those like hey this
58:28
is going to be my retirement fight but he ended up losing um you know uh a
58:34
tough fight uh he lost by um submission in the second round to Cody Duran and
58:41
Duran was the one who was on 4 days notice yes he was he said he was having way too much to drink with his wife and
58:47
got the call and accepted yes I love that I love that I love it too no it was
58:52
awesome like that happened with me once in Invicta um I forget which fight it was but uh um yeah I got the call short
59:01
notice and and it's like well guess I'll put that whiskey down and jump in there but that's how you know like he's
59:08
totally focused on just being the best like this is his goal is to be a best
59:14
he's a lifelong uh lifelong uh practitioner he's working all year round
59:21
not just during fight camp and you can tell by that performance like he wasn't he was partying with his wife yeah but
59:28
on Monday he's checking in and going to the gym and getting his training in yeah it was It was kind of sad though
59:35
I I wonder I don't know because he he's not on that bad of a skid he lost to Steve
59:42
IG um Matt Schnell did he's put on some really good performances he's gotten
59:48
like he's still I think super super talented I don't think he's
59:53
lost a SE necessarily but I guess he was just kind of ready or maybe that that
59:59
loss just kind of did it for him so I don't know what his mindset leading into
1:00:04
the fight was but he was he was looking good even though he was being put on his heels I mean it's kind of tough because
1:00:11
uh if you look at uh just like the fights that he's had in the last four years um he's only won two of them and
1:00:19
uh it's like he won two out of four and then one was a no contest and it wasn't
1:00:25
just that he lost but he was finished in those losses so I think that's when you
1:00:30
have to start looking at okay is is is this the best thing for me
1:00:36
is this the best thing for my future for my head um one of
1:00:41
the one of the wins on his record is Tyson n and that video of Tyson n doing
1:00:50
uh interviews from when he first got signed to his last few fights is really
1:00:56
sad because you can see like there's a lot more slurring in his speech um it's
1:01:03
progressively like worse and worse and it looks like a sign of CCE like it
1:01:09
looks like a sign of brain damage they actually had a huge conference about that during my fight week which is why
1:01:14
no one was available to work on me at the pi
1:01:20
but that would piss me off I was mad I was mad I look forward to fight week to
1:01:25
get all the massages all the PT all the relaxation cup me cup me I want the
1:01:31
sucker marks on me when I fight and there was no one there to give me sucker marks I was so pissed um but the good
1:01:39
thing is they were doing something beneficial to our longterm which is talking to um a guy who a doctor who is
1:01:46
um you know really doing doing a lot of research I I forget what a brain doctor is called but some kind of brain doctor
1:01:54
who was doing all the research neurologist yeah yeah a neurologist that's why she's the smart
1:02:03
one she uses the thing in your head that does the thinking um they were he was uh
1:02:10
doing a lot of work with CTE and getting making a lot of discoveries and one thing that they found out was that a lot
1:02:16
of times you don't see the damage of CTE until 10 years later and I'm like [ __ ] I'm [ __ ]
1:02:23
no I'm like should be thankful for all those suspensions and and injuries that
1:02:30
have kept me out of training and competition for all those years I the first time I got dropped was about 10
1:02:36
years ago so I'm like uhoh here we go better start
1:02:41
reading before I can't give me some good bugs to read
1:02:47
before it's all over no there's like um there's things you can do there's I start taking like micro does of
1:02:53
mushrooms you can do like brain um what are those like brain games stuff
1:03:00
to keep you sharp yeah I've been doing brain games recently trying to get better at speaking and then I play Candy
1:03:06
Crush that's my brain game that's not a brain game that is a game for all your
1:03:11
worst habits of being addicted to things and and quick gratification what is it
1:03:18
called like the instant gratification yeah instant gratification all those things that it's
1:03:25
not a brain game you need to do something where you actually have to think whatever
1:03:30
Angela thanks for being so supportive try Tetris whatever I love
1:03:36
Tetris uh yeah um so that's always scary and when uh when you look at his record
1:03:42
he's coming off of a couple big Kos and then this fight he took a bit of damage too but he was looking good like his
1:03:49
chin was looking good so I I feel like maybe getting that nasty submission loss
1:03:54
maybe he was Finding like you know know what I'm done yeah did he get to do a
1:04:01
speech or anything I didn't get to no he didn't no it was really sad and that's why I kind of brought it brought it up
1:04:06
because like I mean I I haven't necessarily thought about what my retirement would would look like but you
1:04:12
know some people get this big send off and some people don't some people leave
1:04:18
their you know do the the gloves in the Octagon some people will announce it on on Twitter some people have the
1:04:24
organization you know make it freaking highlight reel for you it just um you
1:04:29
know it just looks different for everyone so it kind of just made me think like what what would I like it to
1:04:36
look like will I like choose in the moment will I think about it you know yeah um it's it's something that I don't
1:04:42
really focus on but you know eventually that that time will come yeah um it's
1:04:49
it's hard to say like I I feel like unless you have some solid plans for
1:04:54
afterwards or unless you're in like a rough spot and this is going to be the
1:04:59
deciding factor how I show up in this fight I seemed like that it's kind of what was happening with Chanel like he's
1:05:05
like you know I've been as close as I could be to getting that title to getting that ultimate goal if this fight
1:05:14
doesn't go the way that I wanted to I got to do what's best for my family and a lot of times that's a lot of times
1:05:20
when Fighters retire off of a loss they're looking out for for the people that love them not really just like
1:05:26
looking out for themselves but yeah it's it's hard to say man I I I feel like I still got another 10
1:05:34
years I feel like I could fight till I'm 50 I won't I don't know if Adam will
1:05:40
approve but he'll be like I'm too old to be your
1:05:46
coach it's all right there's plenty of coaches coming up these days I'll just get one of the kids that you taught
1:05:53
exactly exactly one of the kids that that are now like competing in IM MF e
1:05:59
or FD or whatever it's called one of them yeah well should we uh slide over
1:06:05
to our bonus content before we talk about the rest of the topics we had I think it's
1:06:11
about that time what were we planning on talking about uh after this I know we had a couple more fights to hit right
1:06:18
yeah we do um I mean no is coming up uh so we have some fights to talk about
1:06:24
there we have a bully fight on Twitter we have some other retirements to talk
1:06:30
about among other things yes and um I want to talk about that big female KO on
1:06:39
Dana White Contender series o let's talk about that yeah cuz that's going to be a fun s when she gets in there um yeah
1:06:46
we'll see you in a bit [Music]
