hey everyone yo we're back with an episode of two straws
0:16
we've been under construction as you can see but it was worth the wait because we'd like to introduce you to our new
0:21
fancy podcast Studio yeah it's called Uh bar straws
0:29
welcome to the studio um we've been out for a bit we've been doing a lot life life stuff a lot of
0:38
Life yeah happened in between this show and the last one um at a fight you went to uh Australia
0:47
yes um you became a mogul in the San Diego
0:52
real estate scene I have been building up my business yeah I'm trying to make the best out of my foot injury I don't
1:00
really talk about stuff like that because I'm just kind of a private personal person but my foot's been broken
1:06
um I got a little got a little limp in my giddy up so I have not been able to train at all but I've been making the
1:12
best out of it by just focusing on building a business from scratch and so if you're looking for a house
1:19
looking to buy sell invest call me I'm a girl if you're rich and you can afford a house in San Diego
1:27
profile funds color up proof of fun yeah yeah I only accept proof of funds and
1:33
then we can talk yeah don't come over here with you I don't know would be GameStop paycheck
1:39
ah it's not gonna work it's not just that but I've had a lot of fun with trolls oh really yeah yeah yeah people
1:48
um saying that they're interested and then they're just really interested in hanging out with me which I am so
1:53
flattered it's so so flattered but that's not what I'm about right now have you gotten to the point where you're
1:59
like showing a house no okay all right you have to elaborate
2:06
no no no no um it was actually so I I found um somebody found me they reached out to
2:13
me and you know they answered all the questions we had our Zoom meeting and
2:18
showed proof of funds I was a little assessed on the proof of funds and I'm like you know what it's proof of funds okay you know what was the proof what
2:25
was it like it's just um you know a picture of bank statement just money that is in the account yeah
2:31
um it was crypto like I don't know if this doge is worth
2:36
them a lot right now I know and then um and then so I ended up speaking to the guy and I was like ah I don't know I
2:43
mean I'll give him a shot he he sent proof of funds you know why not we'll we'll see where this goes at the very
2:49
least it'll make for a great story he thought you meant proof of fun
2:57
this is what you can have yeah so I I ended up finding a couple
3:03
properties and then you know they didn't work out because she said he was you know traveling and he also was looking
3:09
at other houses with other agents and I'm like okay cool I get it so you know
3:15
I just a couple some red flags just started popping up so I started asking more in-depth questions and he just
3:22
wasn't willing to share any information with me like normal normal casual you know real estate talk yeah and he said
3:29
he had a bunch of properties and he was like a frequent you know traveler and business guy and
3:34
okay and then he asked me to start sending stuff to his assistant I was like listen would you be willing to sign
3:40
you know just an exclusive and it's just a um single party agreement that says if
3:46
I bring you this property that you will owe me a commission if it ends up going through because I'm not going to be
3:52
showing somebody a property and then him take it to another agent right you know just Swayze your time yeah it is and he
3:58
just wouldn't do it so it all kind of fell apart so I never ended up following through I haven't heard from him since
4:03
so luckily I didn't you know drive all the way up to Orange County to meet him at these properties to show him okay I
4:09
just I went with my gut so I thought you meant that you had a guy that just
4:16
wanted to hang out with you because you're Jessica Penny and you got to show
4:22
them the house and they were like no I stopped it before that happened okay thanks oh my God I stopped it before it
4:27
happened okay I was worried I am not driving all the way up to Orange County I mean I love going up to Orange County
4:32
I'm from Orange County it's not that far drive love visiting but I'm not going to drive all the way up there you know see
4:38
what you need is one of those big buff blue belt bouncers like blue belt assistance that can be like your
4:45
assistant slash bodyguard just in case you get a weirdo out there because you
4:50
know showing houses it's a very intimate thing yeah that's why I have my CCW yeah there you go don't [ __ ] with her if you
4:59
know you know no but um it did remind me like that kind of that kind of situation reminded
5:06
me when I was doing um I did a seminar for real estate agents
5:11
uh self-defense seminar just you know being aware just learning some you know good techniques and stuff like that
5:17
because showing houses doing open houses being an agent you're really vulnerable you are especially if no one's there you
5:23
know you're just opening the door like anyone can anyone off the street can
5:28
walk in so yeah it's really important to protect yourself so I think I'm gonna bring that back actually yeah because I
5:34
think it's a really you know just important valuable thing self-defense and you know just awareness or are key
5:39
things to survival you should make them all train in their power suits like in
5:44
their business no I did oh my God sorry oh sorry I got really excited you
5:49
thought you were at a bar I did it's a little bit more delicate than that no
5:55
more I need to start punching things it's been it's been a few months since I've actually gotten to hit something
6:00
yeah get a little pent up yeah well you know you don't have to kick things you could just punch it no don't pivot on
6:07
the broken foot that would get frustrating yeah that's what getting frustrating I was just starting to do
6:13
pocket punching I'm like this is boring I cannot
6:18
um yeah yeah it is so that's fun just been focusing on that yeah it's been it's been really good It's always
6:24
important to you know just do what I can with with what I have and this is yeah get to focus on something else and
6:30
improve skills in something else exactly that's the best way um mentally to just like
6:36
keep yourself I don't know not overwhelmed when you have too much time off like because you
6:42
have to be off you have you're injured for me I had to take some time off to like rest my head and it's just
6:49
frustrating because there's so many things that can aggravate like if you if you had a concussion or if you had like
6:56
any type of brain trauma just hit in a bag can aggravate it so I had to spend a
7:01
lot of time uh playing video games mental training it is reflexes without
7:08
stimulation without the shaking unless you know I throw my controller which happened a couple times but I kept it to
7:15
the more calming you know video games like uh Zelda I played the new Zelda
7:22
yeah it was fine I got all the way to the end it was it was like a adventure
7:28
game slash puzzle game so if you're really into uh figuring out puzzles it's
7:34
it's kind of weird because you have so many different ways to solve these puzzles and to defeat these bosses like
7:40
it gives you all these random tools that you never had in a video game like you could literally build a house and then
7:47
put wheels on it and then drive it into someone like it's really random it's it's so cool but like I always whenever
7:54
I uh meet someone with a kid who has a switch I'm like yo if your kid's really creative have them play that game
8:00
because it's just gonna open their mind that's so cool it's really cool so I enjoyed playing that and now me and Adam
8:06
are playing Diablo so that's a good like Stoner game just get high and smash buttons and uh
8:14
good it's good to just take a seat back and relax and try not to think about all
8:20
the things he did wrong oh honey we've all been there we've all been there
8:26
I mean talk about Australia I mean I have those moments after I send a risky text message you know it's just all of a
8:32
sudden a remorse one like why do you do that you wake up in the middle of the night what did I do I have the winky
8:38
face why are you so thirsty it's
8:45
nice you know yeah I am though I'm gonna have a second yes
8:51
yes thirst quenches all Yes [Laughter]
8:58
um it tastes better when it's in a tiki mug too yeah it's more tropical it is puts you in the mood in the beauty Vibes
9:05
I actually went to the beach for the first time since like ever and it was sunny and wonderful I got slightly
9:11
burned because I'm very you do look a little more bronzed today yeah yeah yeah
9:16
good job thank you very much um so Australia was amazing severely jet
9:22
lagged though I was really good on the way over there I took off at night popped a sleeping pill woke up and it
9:30
was you know four in the morning Aussie time got my breakfast hit the ground running we went to a an alpaca and wine
9:36
tasting experience oh wow I for those of you guys who who don't know sorry I'm
9:42
just talking like you guys know what's going on but our tough 20 uh Bestie Beck
9:47
Rodriguez now formerly Rollins hosted me and I got to stay with her and her
9:53
family and she just like went into Super Mom planning like bestie mode and I we
10:00
had a full itinerary and I've been to Australia you know multiple times and stayed with her for a long amount of
10:05
time and you know we just kind of play it by ear but we were on a strict schedule this time nice we had
10:12
um we had the alpaca and wine tasting experience we were supposed to do this like
10:18
uh zip line obstacle course but my foot's you know still on the men so we decided to drop that we went to two
10:26
amazing amazing like decadent crazy 10 course dining experience restaurants
10:32
amazing did they serve a alligator or no it was it was nothing like that they
10:37
actually we couldn't find a place the last time we were there we tried to find a place that did that but they don't do the Aussie stuff or or yeah forbidden
10:44
animals yeah they didn't do that they actually um if you want to try that you go to lionshare in downtown San Diego they
10:52
have all sorts of exotic meats I'm actually going to go there next week I've planned a little oh no
10:57
I don't know what's on the menu right now I know but I get over it yeah if
11:03
you're like this monkey brain is delicious I don't care that they're so closely
11:10
related to me genetically [Laughter] it's going to be human listen to the
11:16
food chain whoa although although that is a thing I've heard in La there's supposedly some like underground yeah
11:24
right I asked so my brother is in the restaurant Biz he works at like really incredible fine dining restaurants and I
11:30
asked him I was like yo hooks do you know about any places that are doing
11:35
like this cannibalism experience and he's like no I'm like will you let me know he's like he's like Jay that's how
11:42
scary movies start and I'm not even getting involved in that I'm not even gonna google it fair point yeah Fair
11:48
Point uh that's so funny have you seen that movie there's a movie uh forget the name of it but um basically this girl
11:55
meets this guy and then fresh yes
12:02
dude it was good it was really good it was so good and it was like
12:07
I don't know like hipstery I guess it was just like just enough of uh
12:13
wit to it it was a little Indie and it was witty dry but yeah and edgy at the
12:19
same time like I love the humor in it I love like the initial first date that the girl was on like it was uh it was so
12:26
mad movie yeah it was pretty Twisted I liked it so you would be one of the people getting deliveries
12:35
better me getting the deliveries than the other way around man they would pay a lot for one of your flanks
12:44
put it up there you better be careful you better be careful with that Karma going to lions and you better eat
12:50
something that's not that exotic
12:55
I'm more exotic than what's common I guess yeah yeah so like a turtle
13:01
I don't think there's enough meat in a turtle this is like a turtle they'll do like a frog I think they had
13:07
like camel at one point I felt a little weird about that yeah it's still the
13:13
heart okay okay [Music]
13:19
thank you with me I'm all hard tacos oh yeah that's all I'm talking [ __ ] but I would be the
13:25
first one ordering everything off to me like I gotta try it I gotta try for a year oh yeah
13:32
exactly and they're already dead so might as well make their life where their death
13:39
yes exactly appreciate them anyway
13:45
um we just talk about some fights huh we should I mean I could talk about Australian animals all day but but yeah
13:51
let's get into it so I think we should start out with um algeman Sterling versus Henry suhuto yeah it was his uh
14:00
sahuto's first fight back in about three years and he's um you know he he still
14:06
looked good but algeman Sterling just he looked better yeah he had a great game plan he's just uh really picked up a lot
14:12
of momentum he sticks to his game plan he does what he does well and he was really impressive in it yeah
14:18
um you know and and hats off to Henry suhudo for just like stepping up and getting into the mix right away and you
14:24
know getting after it the way that he did that's that's a really you know steep Division and algebra Sterling's a
14:31
great champion and for him to you know get that opportunity and take it and I I
14:37
thought it was great I thought the fight was really close I remember watching it and thinking [ __ ] I don't know how
14:43
they're gonna score it and then the rounds that I thought were for sure algae means a couple of them ended up
14:50
going to sejudo so I thought he really let that out in the end because the last round I remember sejudo just had this
14:56
like big surge back and I'm like he might have stolen it with that last round but we'll see what happened in the
15:02
judges score that round for algel so I was like yo oh like that's crazy but ultimately I felt like the person who
15:09
was supposed to win won you know his his performance was better overall I felt
15:14
like and uh it makes me think that maybe they should bring back some kind of Pride rule scoring where you look at the
15:22
whole fight like yeah maybe someone had a slightly better first round than the other person but then they just
15:28
destroyed the next two rounds then the other few rounds were close you should be able to like score the whole fight as
15:35
opposed to just like who you thought won and I feel like that's what those judges did because sejudo had a really strong
15:41
last round in that fight and ended up not getting in a couple judges scorecards
15:47
I see what you're saying about you know the the open scoring or the you know full fight scoring uh for me I like
15:55
round by round but I think that what we're missing from the judges and and
16:02
everybody involved is like the criteria on which we are going yeah yeah because
16:08
it seems like there's just no consistency and there's this trend now of damage is scoring more than a whole
16:15
round and I mean it could be an advertent elbow or you know something but something a headbutt or something
16:21
that is you know that wasn't intentional that caused so much damage took somebody out of the element for a second and it
16:27
just completely washes away all the body of work that was done in that round yeah so if you
16:34
know before Fighters fight we get to talk to the refs or the refs come and talk to us and they tell us you know
16:41
what they're looking for they tell us how it's going to be they tell us you know what you know do's and don'ts and
16:46
you know the how they're you know looking at things and how they're calling things I think that we should be
16:53
allowed to have a meeting with the judges you know an open room where we go
16:59
we sit down we get to hear from the judges what they're specifically looking for and we get to ask them questions I just
17:06
I don't know why there is such a disconnect between the judges and and
17:13
the athletes in in that you know in that respect I just think that we're just so unclear and we never
17:19
know what to look for and there's no consistency and it's extremely frustrating and um I know one of the judges your
17:27
favorite I know he's no longer judging but there are still other people oh Doug Yeah Boy Doug
17:36
um so there there is a turnaround where you know some people are starting to be you know questioned or held accountable
17:41
however there's just still no know across the board understanding of
17:47
what they're looking for yeah there needs to be constant reminders like per
17:53
fight card all the judges get together maybe with a few Fighters or a few uh
17:59
coaches present uh to represent each each Camp each team that's performing on
18:05
that card and they can just explain to everyone this is what we're looking for and I think a lot of Judges will see be
18:12
surprised what their peers say because a lot of them have opposite ideas of what
18:18
scores fights like um uh what was that guy's name who always did this oh Cecil people yeah
18:25
Cecil people's he was a notorious for saying that like kicks don't don't do anything so leg kicks don't he doesn't
18:30
count them in a fight and how many times have we seen people get knocked up via leg kicks yeah you know so it's a crazy
18:37
thing to come into a sport and not recognize what does damage and what
18:43
doesn't and a lot a lot of times people who I think when everyone else sees what's going on in a fight someone off
18:50
the street can just be like oh that person took that fight away and then the other person gets the scoring I think
18:55
it's when the judges are just kind of I don't know just confused as to what
19:02
should be scoring and what shouldn't because inevitably they're just looking at a fight you're watching a fight who's
19:08
winning this fight you know like sometimes it's just as simple as that and it still goes to the wrong person
19:14
every now and then so um yeah I definitely think the conversation aspect just that communication it it would be
19:22
so crazy if we didn't have those moments with the referees we'd be so confused in
19:28
there like why are you talking to me you know you remember you know in the time
19:33
where they were kind of trying to play with this Universal rule versus the old school rule where you know you can touch
19:39
you can touch the ground and that's not a grounded opponent because it's not weight-bearing but don't play the game
19:45
rule yeah you know they were trying to eliminate that but you never knew if that state was going to honor that new
19:53
rule so if we didn't know that yeah you could get disqualified easily exactly
19:58
something you did in Vegas you wouldn't be able to do in Texas and it's like why not you know I did this my last fight
20:04
and it was fine um and like you know all the controversy that does happen with refs when they
20:10
make a bad call or they get in the in the middle of the fight on accident or
20:15
something like that there'd be so much more of that if they didn't have that conversation with us so they're actually
20:20
doing a really good job on that end but they need to mirror that when it comes to judging I I
20:27
couldn't agree more I think that we're at a point with mixed martial arts where
20:32
there's enough people just being fed up with it to where there is
20:38
going to stimulate a change I think we're going to start seeing that I'm I'm standing on that because something needs
20:44
needs to change this is taking you know money out of people's pockets this is changing the course out of people or
20:50
there's a changes in the course of people's careers and their livelihood there there needs to be something done and we keep talking about it I'm not
20:57
seeing action I don't know how that action is gonna happen but I feel like if we keep talking about it and we keep
21:02
you know making our points and you know creating a conversation that will you know hopefully stimulate change yeah
21:09
well I heard um we might see some other judges on The Chop and block
21:14
um just rumors but hopefully that happens and we start getting rid of those because I do feel like when
21:21
something weird happens they're in cahoots with each other so getting rid of Douglas Crosby I feel like that's
21:27
like the mafia head but then you're gonna have all these other cronies trying to take its place so we gotta get
21:33
them all um I will say I I noticed something when we were um when we were at cage Warriors
21:40
you know a few weeks ago and you were calling the fights and I got to be you
21:46
know kind of cage side to watch the fights and it was a great show and I saw
21:51
that you know Chris lieben former you know UFC Contender was uh has been a
21:58
judge and and I thought that was really great I like the idea of former Fighters becoming judges and the thing that I
22:05
loved the most was he had somebody that was on the card and he renounced himself
22:12
and he stepped away he walked away and he was not in the judging seat for that
22:17
fight because I mean we're human it's going to be really really hard to remain
22:22
unbiased um so I thought that that was really impressive and and I love that idea I
22:29
love the idea of just being held accountable or holding yourself accountable yeah but how many people are going to do that not
22:36
me it's really challenging the thing is um with with former Fighters a lot of times you'll have biases that aren't
22:44
immediately clear like uh a friend of a friends or or this this guy's
22:50
girlfriend's best friend training partner is like the person that's
22:55
fighting no one has to make that connection you don't have to excuse yourself but you
23:00
know if you care about that person and you want to see them when no matter what then risk the legitimacy of the sport in
23:08
order to do that you can definitely do it and get away with it so that's what I feel like is happening with with some of
23:14
these judges who are who are corrupt it's like they they have ties with certain Gems or with certain coaches or
23:20
just came up in the same field a lot of the judges do have martial arts backgrounds or have dabbled a little bit
23:27
and so they do have these biases that come across in a lot of uh in a lot of
23:33
the fights like uh for whatever reason Douglas Crosby had a vendetta against all the guys from Algos gym so it was
23:40
like this thing where he kept just being a [ __ ] whenever one of those guys fought and if it's happening on the
23:47
lower level No One's Gonna Know and No One's Gonna care enough to do anything about it the fighter will know the
23:52
coaches will know but how do you actually do something about about it so that's also the kind of problem with
24:00
that but I do think that it's easier to draw those connections when it's a visible fighter when somebody that you
24:06
recognize because you go look at their Instagram you could go look at like you know whoever they trained in in history
24:13
and it's a lot easier to like snuff out those controversies before it becomes
24:19
like a consistent thing and the problem with these judges is that they're very much Anonymous so if I wanted to
24:27
I don't know if I wanted to out Chris Lee for a bad call he made I don't know
24:33
what he looks like yeah I could assume he's Asian but that's he's probably that
24:38
you know what I mean like there's a lot of different kind of leads out there these days so it's like
24:44
there's no way of telling who these judges are what connections they have unless you know them personally and like
24:52
No One's Gonna snitch on him you know so it I do think that that would help and that argument that people make about oh
24:59
well the fighters are going to have friends in there too at least people know who they are so you can do your
25:05
homework get your receipts if you feel like something fishy is going on and then they don't have a job anymore
25:11
so yeah look at us solving MMA problems they need to put us on a board somewhere
25:18
I I think we should uh you know come up with a business plan and and bring it to
25:24
them they came in offer they can't refuse yeah we get Doug Crosby with us and come
25:32
and show up with a with a suitcase and a cigar a Tommy Gun you know now that I'm in
25:38
real estate I do have some pantsuits ready to go there you go there you go
25:44
um dude so we should probably talk about my fight a little bit it happened a couple weeks after uh after this
25:53
aljosahudo fight and I actually found out because it was supposed to be the week after we were supposed to be on the
26:00
main card of the uh Charlotte card and I got a call that night from mcmahoner and
26:07
he's like you up well I got a text I got a text
26:13
and I was like hey goody you're so late I mean yes but
26:19
so he calls me and he's like hey uh I guess because
26:24
um uh Nunes was supposed to fight on that on the Apex show that I ended up
26:31
headlining they couldn't find a replacement they couldn't find like a big a big uh fight to replace for that and
26:38
make the main event so he called me up out of the blue and was like hey I just
26:44
wanted to know if you'd be down to Main Event in the Apex Show in another week
26:49
so not next week but the week after I'm like yeah you know like it's it's a dope
26:55
opportunity um I was a little sad that I didn't get to fight in front of fans because it is
27:02
like such a kind of feeling when you walk out and you just
27:07
hear me [Laughter] this is like 10 people God
27:15
most of my fans are like on the production side you know
27:21
um so they're gonna shout too hard for me but uh yeah it's it was it was a great opportunity and I said yes and uh
27:29
Daniel said yes and that was that was a go so um yeah the week was a pretty chill week
27:35
it was like a good fight camp but good um fight week and everything the wake up
27:40
was too easy um and but then the fight just like kind of and the good thing is I got a lot of
27:48
good feedback from the fight like a lot of people were really impressed with my toughness was really impressive like uh
27:56
my survivability on the ground but you know it's always like as a fighter it
28:02
always feels a little backhanded like I know what I could have done and I know
28:07
what I wanted to do and what happened was like okay
28:13
worst case scenario for me in my head and uh and it just sucks because if it's
28:21
one of those things where like you prepare for a certain fight and then when
28:27
it goes off script you just you keep trying to go back to the game plan and
28:33
it just didn't feel like it was coming through and I don't know it's like one
28:39
of those fights where it shows you that MMA is so chaotic that you really have
28:45
to be adaptable because you don't know what was what's going to happen in there and that was
28:50
always in the back of my head like oh yeah maybe she'll throw something really hard she looks like she throws really
28:55
hard so something could connect something could happen and and then what
29:01
but really the what where I felt like I would win it was the
29:08
opposite like I felt like I was winning position so I shouldn't have won and I felt like I was losing positions I
29:13
shouldn't have lost and it was really hard for me to get out of that mode especially after the reset after I go
29:19
back to the corner and come out is like I couldn't realize where the good things are happening so it was a good learning
29:26
experience just to forced me to just be in the moment a
29:31
little more and not try to force what isn't there so yeah that was the fight
29:36
but yeah oh it's I mean it's in those moments of you know it's if you don't
29:43
when you learn and I think that that's like a really powerful way to be and way to to look at
29:50
fighting or like really anything in life you know it's we don't always get the best
29:56
um the best feedback or Knowledge from from wins because you know maybe we've
30:01
got a way with things so I think it's really great feedback from you know those learning experiences and it's
30:07
always an opportunity to learn and grow and make yourself better and you know you got to appreciate what you did well
30:12
too I know I've had too many learning experiences
30:18
[Music] no I hear that yeah but it's really
30:24
important to you know appreciate the the small victories even even if it's hard
30:29
to again yeah I totally get it yeah so at least you gotta fight tonight yeah at
30:34
least it was a good fight um it was entertaining that's always the goal when it comes to uh keeping your
30:41
job is being entertaining yeah it was that so yeah I'll live to fight again
30:47
[Laughter] it's okay there will be others yeah so
30:52
after that [ __ ] show no after that burn burner of a fight
30:58
we finally got to see Amanda Nunes get in there against Irina aldana and man
31:06
oh she pieced her UPS it was just really strategic and that was like the most
31:13
impressive part of it there was no chaos like when I when I think back to Nunez
31:19
fighting um Nunez fighting Chris cyborg there was a lot of Chaos in that exchange and then
31:26
Nunez came out on top and I was like oh man that was that was awesome but in this fight it was just strategy every
31:35
time aldana started to adjust to something that Nunes was doing she started picking on something else and
31:41
then she started to adjust to that she'd pick on something else like she started with like stab kicks then she started
31:46
push kicking the knee and then she hit her with that jab that she likes to do that really stiff jab then started
31:52
working the one two it's just like every minute she was doing something strategically different and it really
31:58
kept aldana just kind of flat and second guessing herself and I thought that was a really
32:04
impressive way to close out your career like were you surprised
32:10
no I I love Arena aldana I think that um but she's a
32:17
very straightforward fighter like she she's very good at what she does but I feel like she's one of those Fighters
32:23
where if you look at her body of work you can see a lot of Tendencies and so I think that the most impressive thing was
32:30
how like you were saying how a Mana Nunes just really saw like just read everything that she was doing yeah she
32:36
took every opportunity and capitalized off of it and Iranian Donna she she's such a warrior she's such a gamer my
32:43
hat's off to her but it's just um I think that you know we've just seen this
32:48
this progression of Amanda Nunes and she's just like really reached the Pinnacle of of her you know technical
32:55
prowess like she's just she's really impressive and to to end her career on that note on her terms
33:03
um with with a win like that I just I mean I feel like that's every Fighter's dream really yeah you know well
33:10
part of me feels like she's not done maybe not did you hear her Pro her post
33:15
fight presser uh not the presser I just listened to the post fight uh in cage
33:21
okay so I turned it off because you know did you turn it off I get it I
33:28
get it you know how Amanda's supposed to fight like in the cage [Laughter]
33:34
interviews can be it'll be 20 minutes later and she's still going oh and I
33:39
want to take the man at the coffee shop he made me very good espresso it's very
33:45
good I'd also like to thank the woman who waited on me like she thanks everyone so it's really sweet it's very
33:51
sweet but if you're not waiting to get thanked then you're probably gonna leave I don't need to be here for that
33:58
remember when I handed you your gloves remember when I saw you at the airport yeah I gave you a high five and I say
34:05
good luck champ where's my thing where is my thanks
34:10
um so I didn't watch that but then later I saw on the post fight presser that she
34:17
was like everyone who fights after me for the belt is gonna be a paper belt it's gonna be a fake belt I have the
34:23
real belt so I feel like she's not done like to to fill the need to say that as
34:31
opposed to just handing it off letting them letting the children go off and
34:36
have their own you know era of who's gonna be next Champion she's kind of
34:42
saying y'all ain't [ __ ] well I mean you didn't beat her so yeah technically I I
34:48
do get it yeah but I get it I mean she I mean she can she can say that I think I just
34:55
think it's funny and it makes me think that if someone comes along that's a
35:01
little spicy that's a little exciting that get people saying what if this
35:07
fighter went up against Amanda Nunes she might give her trouble I think that they'd be able to bait her back in maybe
35:13
because uh it's like the khabib thing when he left
35:18
every person who came after they're like what if this guy fought khabib what if Charles Oliveira fought could be like
35:25
that was like a big thing that uh the media kept pressing that even Dana would
35:31
bring up like man I wonder what would happen that would be a great matchup so I do feel like if there's someone who
35:36
comes out who just impresses um and I don't think we've seen her yet but if someone comes through makes their
35:45
way through all the contenders that Nunes was also able to beat up then maybe that'll be enough to just like you
35:52
know dangle the T-bone in front of the lion and hey come and get it you got another uh another money bag to collect
35:59
I mean maybe if she made some like really bad Investments you know just started doing like the
36:06
typical like pro athlete thing and you know just just spending too much money too fast I mean yeah we could see it
36:12
happen hopefully you know I think from what I heard in her post fight speech you know she set up for success
36:18
so I I hope that she gets to live out you know her retirement happy and healthy and wealthy and all that stuff
36:25
and I hope that you know she doesn't have to come back if she does come back it's you know because you know there's ego yes I prefer ego
36:34
being the thing that brings them back as opposed to financial issues because that happens a lot it does it does it does or
36:42
at a scary thing like I don't think she's gonna go to the Connor route either where she might oh my God we're
36:48
Connor's on my Connor's on my list of things to talk about right now he's gonna need money for lawyers
36:54
this guy oh man Connor come on man he's
37:00
just can't stop [ __ ] up it's like is he in the testing pool yet no
37:06
now look at him no disclaimer I don't I don't know if you
37:14
know he's last time I checked he wasn't and that was last last that was like last week yeah
37:20
that was last week so um yeah he just it's like one of those things where I've
37:27
said this before I don't know if I've said it in one of our podcasts but I've said it before like
37:33
when bad behavior is constantly rewarded like why would you behave exactly any
37:39
differently and so dog training I know dude I know you let but you're up on the
37:45
couch one time yeah you let you pet Australia one time while you're in the toilet now every single time and wants
37:52
to get pet every time you're in the time that's her that's her cue oh it's pet
37:57
time pet time oh it's time for pets it kind of like kind of like no one's
38:03
talking about me and I need a fight I know I'll do a lot of coke and see what
38:09
happens do stupid [ __ ] let's see what happens it'll make the news and then people want to see me fight again
38:15
oh my goodness I mean I honestly like he he could be successful not fighting yeah
38:22
uh but I I do worry about all of his his law bills uh I hope that you know proper
38:29
12 yeah proper 12 I hope it's doing really well I hope he's invested in real
38:34
estate uh call me no I'm just kidding do you do Yachts
38:41
okay well you might get thrown off it's a story after Story is so bad but I
38:49
mean to be fair to be here and this is not being on his side or like helping no
38:56
matter anything but seriously when people put themselves in those situations like you leave yourself open
39:01
to a lot of trouble whether whether you're causing that trouble or somebody's
39:07
trying to capitalize off of you know whatever it is it's just it's hard man some people are magnets mag trouble
39:14
magnets and they don't know why you um so I'm listening to this audiobook and you talk about this uh upper limit uh
39:22
problem that a lot of people have and so it talks about uh you know I you know
39:29
anybody and everybody they have an upper limit meter for how much you know wealth
39:34
how much Fame how much love how much success like all of these things so it's like he's he's hitting it and he just
39:41
keeps hitting it and it's gonna take him down a notch so he can only ever get up to like that level which is a huge huge
39:48
level of success but um it's like he he can't help himself he keeps doing things
39:53
to kind of self-sabotage oh okay so he doesn't want to break through yeah but it's so conscious his body isn't or his
40:00
whatever he's made up of isn't allowing him to bring yes yes exactly it's interesting I feel like I might have
40:07
that problem too it's a great book we all do yeah yeah it's uh yeah it's it's like you're comfortable with a certain
40:14
amount of success and then once you reach that Peak where you can go a
40:20
little higher you start to freak out yeah and like new problems start to arise that you haven't had to deal with
40:26
before and then when you get back lower it's like okay well it's kind of a comfort zone yeah which sucks yeah it
40:33
does yeah especially because you're you you'll want that higher level of
40:39
achievement but something's stopping you from it is that it's that fear of change or that it's a
40:47
self-worth conversation yeah it could be like any number of things but but it is real and you see it I think with with
40:53
Connor we're we're seeing that but this took a while because he's pretty up
40:58
there oh he's pretty out there but they talk about um one example they use is um there was a successful businessman and
41:04
he actually won the lottery and I mean he was already you know paper millionaire like on paper he was
41:10
already very wealthy and then he won the lotto and within you know a handful of
41:16
years he had you know everybody suing him he had made bad Investments people
41:22
stole his money people swindled him and then it was all gone and he was left like right back where he was which
41:27
wasn't a bad spot but it's like um all this stuff just just started
41:32
happening and it's like self-perpetuated yeah it's crazy I'm I've I'm listening
41:37
to it again because the first time it kind of blew my mind but I didn't get it so I'm listening to it again I'll probably listen to it a few more times
41:43
hey there you go but everybody has these limits does it uh does it explain how to get past that or is it just
41:49
acknowledging that no it does the first step is acknowledgment but there's you know other books that you can read to
41:54
you know like workbooks and stuff like that that you can go through and just that's a good one I love
42:00
self-improvement books yeah humans are just [ __ ]
42:06
programs like we're all working off of the same makeup you know and it's so
42:12
crazy how similar we all are like we're all dealing with the same [ __ ] just in different ways yeah it is it really
42:19
freaks you out when you start to realize those patterns and realize that you're no more unique than in the next person
42:27
like yeah you are unique but not really yeah but it is on like you know to
42:32
counter that it also is kind of comforting exactly to know that other people are dealing with these things and
42:37
there is a way you know through it yeah it's not comfortable it's not easy it'll take some time but it is you know it's
42:47
it's okay yeah you know you're not you're not alone this isn't um you know an isolated kind of incident this isn't
42:54
you know anything that we've never seen or heard before like it's possible to break through is there's nothing worse
42:59
than like going to a doctor for something and they're like [Music]
43:06
54 weeks yeah exactly yeah what is that we'll come back in two weeks and we'll
43:11
see if it got any worse and you're just like what what I'm a mutant
43:17
I'm Different no one can hear me but uh when you hear that people are going
43:23
through the same thing then you filled this camaraderie like you've you're you There's Hope yeah yeah yeah suddenly
43:30
amongst peers and you're not freaking out about the fact that you're just doomed
43:36
absolutely because it's just effective yeah like that sometimes yeah Alone
43:42
um oh my goodness um yeah poor Connor so uh should we explain what happened with
43:49
Connor recently yeah which one I mean so the the last one because I feel like
43:55
this is the last one since our last show um the last one happened this week and
44:00
he is being charged for assaulting a girl in the bathroom at the was it I
44:07
don't know anything about basketball the NBA final whatever it was another thing
44:13
yeah it was in a suite or you know somewhere yeah it was like a VIP section
44:18
of like this big NBA game and uh and he took her into the VIP bathroom they let
44:26
her cut line and so she goes to cut line with Conor McGregor and then when she's in there she said he assaulted him
44:33
unfortunately there's no video or proof of that happening or proof of her not consenting or anything
44:39
like that so what do kind of friends do they believe Connor of course and it's so sad but at
44:48
the same time you know there are women who are who go out there and they try to make a quick Buck off of a celebrity
44:55
putting himself in a dumb situation so it's it's really frustrating
45:01
as a woman it is really frustrating to see something like this happen and just see everyone immediately take Connor's
45:08
side like it's really frustrating because this is why no one else does it this is why anyone who might have been
45:14
assaulted in the past against someone who's very famous or even just very charismatic like it'd just be like the
45:21
popular guy at school you know the woman doesn't come forward because she doesn't think anyone's gonna believe him thinks
45:27
you're just trying to like you're just jealous of what the guy has and you're trying to get a piece of it so it always
45:33
frustrates me with that and I do have faith in my MMA Brothers I
45:39
feel like it's not always their fault when [ __ ] like this happens but you just gotta stay silent and let the pieces
45:45
fall where they are you know you don't have to just go oh immediately oh kind of kind of
45:52
like in the clear like he's not with that girl because she's fat you know like
45:57
there's like a lot of nasty comments online that I just that just kind of show the colors of of the fans and you
46:05
know it doesn't say it doesn't help or hurt Connor's side at all legally but in
46:12
my eyes it just makes me kind of sad um it's unfortunate that
46:20
I don't know it's it's great for the sport and bad for the sport it's great for you know business and bad for business because there's just so many
46:26
opportunities for people to speak on things that you know they have no business speaking on yeah and how do you
46:32
think Jake Gyllenhaal felt when he saw that our friend Jake your friend Jake I
46:39
missed I missed him next time I'm at stupid fighter meeting
46:46
oh man they just let you like come out and peek at it I know that was rude it
46:52
was yeah I can't wait for that movie to come out though the Roadhouse movie they filmed uh while Jess was fighting on her
47:00
card uh was that when was that was that March early March yeah in March and uh
47:05
they they filmed a fight too did you know that yeah that was so crazy they filmed a fight during your fight night
47:11
but they also filled weigh-ins during your weigh-in day and uh yeah Justin get
47:16
to see any of it because she was fighting and because she was in her fighter meeting waiting for Dana Dana
47:23
wasn't even there he didn't show up he was watching it he was in the movie I know he didn't even show up we were
47:28
waiting for him and then all the like this has happened so many times that I'm you know back at the fighter meeting waiting for Dana all of a sudden Sean
47:35
Shelby comes walking in and he's like all right guys Santa's not coming but
47:40
you've all heard this before if you haven't don't cuss on TV you will be
47:46
fine people still cuss on TV oh yeah don't jump over the cage you will be fine people drove over the cage
47:52
I don't think they're fine I don't know I haven't talked to them but I don't know I mean they don't I I
47:59
wouldn't know yeah and then um and then he you know tells
48:05
you what bonuses are gonna be on the table and it's always the same and it's always the same four then it works out yeah
48:11
Shelby does the best ones because they're short and sweet and fast less than five minutes yeah but we wait in
48:17
there for you know 30 sometimes you miss movies magic happening man I had I could have
48:24
been an extra right I had time to like go to craft Services order an omelette come back watch the
48:32
third or fourth take like it was a long time God you just hope that you're not like
48:38
you know sitting in a weird awkward position close to your opponent intending to like be having this forced eye contact uh at least you're
48:45
rehydrated though you know yeah you're not as angry I'm I'm always awkward
48:50
though I'm always super awkward I'm always just looking kind of past them and then I make eye contact
48:56
if they're looking back but if they aren't looking back then I'm kind of
49:01
staring at them I'm looking them up and down and then like I see they see me looking and I'm
49:07
like I don't know sometimes sometimes I want to test the eye contact thing and
49:13
sometimes I'm just like look I guess it depends on the run-up but a relationship or whatever how many times
49:20
have I seen them before I had to fight them yeah yeah it's always like the awkward first day
49:27
of school or something it's super awkward I think it really is I really hate it um so
49:33
after that we just had a last night's card right yeah so we had um Bellator
49:39
this weekend and we had UFC 75 we had um we had my former tough coach
49:46
Sergio Pettis probably have like the best fight of his career yeah yeah it's uh Patricio Pitbull yeah and I
49:56
mean Patricio went down to 135 to challenge for this ballot he wanted to be a a triple champ which is insane I
50:03
mean he's he's so impressive like this guy has been fighting since I don't know before I started like he's just he has
50:09
such longevity he's been so impressive he's been you know a champion for a long time and he went down and challenged
50:16
Sergio and Sergio was coming off of you know a long a long layoff because of a
50:22
knee injury and he fought so impressively I mean just everything he
50:28
did he was just shutting down uh Pitbull's offense and his I mean he uh
50:34
Pitbull had a few you know good moments of explosiveness which you know he he's known for but Sergio just looks so sharp
50:42
he just looks so in the zone just so keyed in and focused and I was really happy for him he's just like the nicest
50:49
guy I always loved him on the ultimate fighter just such a such a sweet like old soul and I'm just so happy for him
50:55
dude that uh what was it is it a spinning back kick or a wheel kick or
51:01
whatever real character it's a wheel kick whatever it was but there's also the Rolling Thunder which I mix up with
51:07
will kicks sometimes but dude that [ __ ] was so impressive and I love when they
51:13
showed uh Anthony on the sidelines when he landed it he just like jumped up I was like Yeah Boy
51:20
look at his lips it was so beautiful it was so good silky Gucci get up right
51:28
sunglasses on inside you do you Pettis yeah you little superstar your little
51:33
slight UV protection because it's an indoor sunglass um dude it was it was such an impressive
51:41
performance and then coming off of his uh fight with uh horoguchi right that
51:46
fight was one of those fights where he was just getting beat up the entire time
51:51
and got one of those like movie speeches in the corner in between the fourth and
51:57
fifth round it just came out and nailed them with that spinning back Fist and dude like to see him go from that
52:02
performance to this one I think a lot of guys um uh specifically uh the patchy mix kid
52:10
who just uh won the tournament in Bel Air I think a lot of contenders were
52:15
looking at Sergio as an easy matchup they're like hey horaguchi's like laid out the game plan I just have to not get
52:21
hit with that spinning back Fist and I'm good but Sergio showed that no there's
52:27
there's way more to me than that fight like this fight was technical it was it was um there was a lot of pressure he
52:34
had power he just showed that he's still really dangerous and still like uh he
52:40
was just having an off day that night and still managed to get the win so even on his worst day he can [ __ ] you up and
52:46
today was one of his best so I was I was really impressed with that performance
52:52
that was a good one it was awesome we had some weird stuff happen at UFC
52:59
75. oh yes there were just yeah there were some weird things I was playing uh Diablo I
53:06
just have to be upfront with our two straws fans I was playing Diablo during
53:12
UFC 75. I just watched Victoria versus
53:17
King in here and it was a [ __ ] Banger so
53:22
I got off of not having to see all the controversy and everything because Diablo was pretty lit
53:30
but yes do tell me about I I did hear about like the elbow stuff and the uh
53:37
the head butt thing yeah yeah so on um sorry I have to I have to cite my notes
53:44
really quick the professional here yes so Carlos Hernandez had a win over
53:49
um Dennis bonder and it ended up being a technical decision not a chaos oh oh
53:57
you saw this maybe we should save the next part of this conversation for our exclusive 15.
54:04
it's been a while I forgot to cut you cheap [ __ ] off
54:10
bye so if you want to hear about UFC 75 go to Fight Pass and get that address
